I have 5000 ctp and 200 HP. would it be better to power up more Hive at this point? I still get confused about the roles of each token.

Well CTP is more for generating more CTP tokens and HP is for resource credits and earning HIVE. If you have enough HP to do your transactions such as commenting, posting, voting and trading on HIVE, then HP is less of an issue.
So it depends on your focus.
Thanks that helps. It seems with the amount of HP that I have, My curation rate goes down after a few upvotes. This means that The more HP I have, will allow me to upvote more often with full curation.
