There's nothing wrong with saying "I don't know" but some people don't want to do that. I've been known to tell family members who come to me for advice, that it may take time for me to do a deep dive on something I need more knowledge about, and will get back to them when that's done. Better that, than giving out wrong information.

I totally agree with you. And I bet family members do not hesitate to come to you for that same reason!
