The Money Is In The List, But The Power Is In The Community

The List.png

We see this so often all over the internet..." The money is in the list", they say.

While I do agree with it, I want to add my little 5 cents to it...

Maybe the money is in the list but the power is in the community.

It is no secret, I have said it many times in many of my posts, I am still new to the marketing side of things. I am currently learning all I can about marketing and how to promote an online business.

In my journey to learn about marketing and promoting online, I see many programs emphasizing the importance of list building.

That makes perfect sense. But we need to start somewhere to actually build that list.

It is easy to say "build your list", but how do you actually build that list? Where do you begin?

Yes, there are dozens of people/programs promising to teach you the art of list-building, but unfortunately, the question pops up..." who do you trust?"...

One way is by doing your own research. There is a lot of information on the internet if you are just willing to spend some time.

One thing you need to realize is that you will have to make an investment of some kind. You will either have to invest money or you will have to invest some time. There is no "easy button". I believe the saying is true that says "easy come, easy go".

Money can "buy" you some shortcuts and save you time and often spending that money can be well justified. On the other hand, if you can afford to spend some time, there is so much to be learned before you blindly start investing money.

By doing research and being hands-on, taking action, making mistakes, experimenting, and learning in the process, you gain so much knowledge and experience.

That knowledge and experience is something that nobody can ever take away from you. If disaster strikes somewhere in the future, and you have the knowledge and experience, you know what should be done to rebuild your business. If you have done it once, you can do it again.

We All Need To Start Somewhere

In my personal journey, I have started with the Start Earning Today program.

So, it is obvious that I have to start building my list and promote programs such as Start Earning Today, the Hive Guide, and Click Track Profit.

The Power of a Community

The next step I believe to be taken is brand-building.

You cannot expect complete strangers to start giving you their e-mail addresses (or any personal information for that matter) if they have no idea who you are.

This is where I believe you start seeing the power of a community...particularly the CTP community.

Community.png

Since I became involved with the CTP community, I have experienced support beyond my wildest dreams. Through being part of this community and reading posts and watching vlogs published within this community I have already increased my knowledge in many ways.

This is what gives me the confidence to now start experimenting with building my personal brand. I am learning about traffic exchanges and mailing lists and how to promote yourself, building your own list instead of building someone else's list.

Personal Branding and Building Your List

So, the next step for me is to build my personal brand.

For the next month or two, I will obviously remain active within the community, but I will also start focusing more on activities outside of the CTP community, such as social media platforms and traffic exchanges.

The main aim is to become more visible and for people to get used to seeing me online. Hopefully, I can get the opportunity to build some more relationships by bringing more people to the CTP community here on the Hive blockchain.

Although I will also be promoting programs, I will not be too concerned by not getting many referrals over the next month or two. The main focus is to get my brand established and to be visible where people can see me.

When people start responding to me on social media and entering their e-mail addresses on traffic exchanges, then I will know it is time to seriously start focusing on building my list.

I still do not see myself as a great "sales-person" and I doubt if I ever will...lol!

To be honest, I don't like the idea of selling anything. But, if I can build relationships and have conversations with people, I am willing to share knowledge and information that I know can be of benefit to them.

The Power Is In The Community

So, this brings me to the following conclusion:

  • It starts with being part of and engaging within the community.
  • Build confidence in what you are doing.
  • Build your brand.
  • Build your list (and the community).
  • Promote your program/service/product to your list.

So, there you have it. In my opinion, it starts with the community and it "ends" with the community.

"The money is in the list", but also use that list to build the community. Because without a community it becomes hard to build anything. I think if you build a list without building a community, that list will soon be worth a lot less than what you expected.

You are already doing a good job with branding here on the CTPTalk and Hive in general... People do recognize your effort that you are "investing" in your blog posts, sharing your experience and knowledge...

Don't forget about us, and continue branding yourself here also... There is a lot of potential inside this community and they want to hear your story...

Thank you for those inspiring words, Zoltan!

I will continue here on the blockchain in the CTP community indeed. I definitely don't plan on leaving. Quite the contrary, I would like to bring more people here into this community!

I consider this my home, the base from where I will start building!

Thank you for all your support!

I would say you are building a brand. Your face is getting recognized, and I am sure it is not only in our community. Great post, thank you.

Thank you for pointing that out to me, @rcaine. I think sometimes we have started on a journey without even realizing it...

Thinking about what you say, I might be further in the process than what I thought...

The internet marketer will always say the money is in the list.
The networker will say the is power in a community.

Both are true, very little doubt there.
Buy what I have witnessed with the hive/ctp community is:

The community will give an active/willing person the confidence the take an action, the confidence to step out, shoot a video, show up everyday, create content.
Now this person has the confidence to go and grow their list.
There will be money in that list.....

Kinda magical in an odd ctp kinda way.

PS. The more you earn is the more your earn. TY Blaine

What a great comment!

As you say... "The internet marketer will always say the money is in the list.
The networker will say the is power in a community."

What a great statement! I don't think anybody could say it better.

And what you say regarding the community giving a person the confidence to take action...absolutely true! That is exactly my personal experience with this community.

Thank you for this valuable input, @andrewn! I really do appreciate it.
