You Are What You Think

This is my first attempt at creating an info-gram...lol!

WORDS.png

I got the idea to create my own info-gram and do this short post from a book I've read quite some time ago by dr. Creflo Dollar. The book is called "8 Steps to Create the Life You Want".

In his book, he describes how our thinking patterns and habits are often formed by the words we hear since early childhood.

If you constantly heard your parents saying "there's no money", or "why did you fail your test again? Are you stupid?", you tend to start accepting that as the facts to live by.

The flipside of the coin is if you heard your parents saying things like "what can we do to afford it?", or "let's see what you can do to afford it", or "let's see how we can help you to achieve better results next time".

That would have created a more positive approach and outlook on life...

It's important to start considering this if we want to raise our children to become successful and independent adults.

But we can also apply this knowledge to overcome our own obstacles such as negative thinking, depression, or consistent failures.

If you understand the impact your words have on your emotions and thoughts (by following the process as shown in the info-gram), you can make a conscious effort to change what you say on a regular basis.

It is not something that will change overnight, but if you persevere, you will eventually start seeing a positive change in your life.

I want to stress that I am not talking about the typical "positive thinking" stuff that we often hear about. This has nothing to do with repeating positive affirmations or whatever you want to call it.

It is merely paying attention to what you are saying on a regular basis. Your subconscious cannot distinguish between right or wrong. So, you start believing what you are constantly hearing (even what you are saying yourself). And when you really believe something, you act accordingly.

That is why, when you start a new project with doubt in your mind, you might end up struggling or even fail completely. Then you start saying things like "see, I told you so!". And the more you believe it, the more you say it because you believe it.

So, it is a vicious cycle that needs to be broken. But now that you know the origin of it, you know what to do and you can put in some serious effort to change it.

It won't be easy, but it can be done!
