5 Things To Quit Right Now!

Here are 5 things that you can stop doing today that will most likely have a positive impact on your day to day adventures.

  1. Trying To Please Everyone
Can I get an Amen? Really. Trying to please everyone is downright exhausting. This is a really hard habit to break. However, it's extremely liberating when you can come to the realization that not only is it impossible to please everyone but it's actually not your job at all. You are responsible for your space and what you bring to any relationship, whether personal or professional. Outside of that, it's on them. This may sound harsh and perhaps it is but it's also true!

  2. Fearing Change
Ooooh...thing's are getting real. That dreaded F word. It's what stops most people from doing anything. All the what if's galore. Change is inevitable and yes, it's scary as hell. No one ever accomplished anything by staying still.

  3. Living In The Past
Okay, seriously...can this list read my mind? ;) This one might be a little more difficult to "unpack" then the rest. Some might say it even involves mastering #1 and #2 on this list. I'm not sure about that but what I do know for sure is that in order to move forward you have to learn to let go. What's in the past is in the past for a reason. It has indeed helped shape who you are today. Something to remember is - you were the best version of you that you could be at the time. Understanding that helps you to be the best version of you, today.

  4. Putting Yourself Down
Here is something Oprah taught me as a young woman watching her show. "You set the example of how you want the world to treat you". In other words, how you treat yourself, how you talk to yourself, the standards you hold yourself to, the people you hang around...all help define how the world sees you. Next time you go to put yourself down, try doing the exact opposite. You'll soon notice positive energy attracts positive things! You are worthy. You are worthy. YOU ARE WORTHY!

  5. Overthinking
Rip off the band-aid. Dive right in. Don't try, just do. Any of these sound familiar? Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is to just jump right in. Otherwise we get caught up in the fears. Once we give that little voice inside our head the mic, they tend to take over. Don't give them space. Take some risks. What's the worse thing that can happen? You learn never to do "whatever it is you're trying" again.

Yes. A very good list indeed. I am more or less successful with some of it :)

I always need to remember what part is mine, and what part isn't. I am really concerned about the CV possibility for fall and winter, but I can't do anything for it except protect myself.

And vote. You can bet the house that I will vote. Early so I'm sure it's counted before election day.

Sure. pass part is hard. since I still have day mares amount much of it. and lot of taught me have no rights. not rights to speak and be heard. Any ways Great Post indeed. I don't think i try to please everyone. I barely please my self. doing stuff online to try to be somebody and not just number in system. and I really don't call out some one in public unless they make me feel like I should die in front of others. i could go on but I will shutup now.

Thanks Cheryl. Don't put yourself down though. You are worthy of the effort and if you aren't finding success in whatever it is you're doing, try a different route. I really appreciate your comment!

It's nice to see this list, and every one of us will agree with it...

It would be nice to be aware of this 24/7 and really follow them... I fail on at least 2 of them... Trying to fix it, but still failing... But, the effort is an important part! :)

All 5 things ring true for me. I used to be a person that said yes I'll do it, then I learned the word no. I am trying to learn to let the past stay in the past, sometimes it does a creep job on me and takes me back. When that happens try to go out side and look at natural and be in the moment.

This is a great list of things we can all definitely live without, everyone of them. That being said it is not always easy to not do a few of these. I try not to do any of them but there are those times that you get stuck on things. Great information as always.

It's a great list and I loved that about Oprah too. Most talk show hosts are worried about ratings and being PC, she was all about the people and truly interested in pulling you up to be a better version of yourself. How can you not love her? :))

All these little things are simple to do, if we can think logically at that moment, we would realize it is the right thing to do, but, emotions have a stronger pull for sure. I have learned to separate the two, mostly for my own sanity and for growth. It doesn't always happen, but, aren't we all just work in progress?
