When Life Gives You Lemons...

When Life Gives You Lemons....png

Let me go on record right now and say...I'm a very lucky guy!

I feel blessed each and every day and I'm so grateful for everything that I have in my life. My health, my wife, my kids, my family and friends...

Heck, I'm always VERY grateful for this blockchain and it's amazing community.

With that out of the way, I'm going off on a little rant...

If you have been following my journey for any amount of time, you'll know that for the better part of a month, I've been 'on the road'.

It started (technically) way back in April. ..

Story time...

Last year I decided to move my family from Western Canada all the way to Newfoundland. That's over 6000 kilometres for those keeping score!

My wife agreed to it, but during her time out east I could tell...She wasn't happy. She missed her family and the comfort of being close to home. And I understood. As much as I thought our new life would be perfect in Newfoundland, it just wasn't working out.

So in April, my wife and our 2 sons decided to make the move back to Alberta. I would stay in Newfoundland for a few months to concentrate on working on our online businesses and with my recent diabetes diagnosis, get my health sorted out.

It worked out and I made progress in both building a new podcast and getting my blood sugar under control. So then the time came to move back west and in late June, I began the trek back across the continent.

Just in case you are wondering, moving two times across a continent in less than a year...Is kind of expensive. So the plan was for me to go work with my friend in British Columbia for a few weeks and help pay for all the moving expenses to get us back on track.

It's actually really worked out well except for a few things...

One - It's been SUPER tough to keep my schedule for online work and even posting my regular content on the blockchain. I feel like a lot has suffered, and as much as I try to maintain my posts and content...Things haven't been smooth.

Heck, tonight is supposed to be the Road To 10k CTP, but I have no privacy to get the recording done (I'm sleeping on my buddy's couch LOL)

Two - And this is the toughest...I haven't been with my family since April.

Sure, I was VERY lucky to spend a little over a week with them to help get our new home set up after the drive from Newfoundland, but about a week and a half ago...I had to continue driving west and come to Vancouver to work.

But other than that week and a bit, I've been without my wife and kids since April. And it's tough. Really tough to be without them.

FaceTime has been a blessing and we talk each and every day but urgh...It sucks.

However, this is something I had to do. And I consider myself very lucky to have the opportunity to be out here in B.C. And in about a week from today, I'll be home for good!!!

So here's the 'lesson' I have had to learn over the past few months...

Family is EVERYTHING! And even though some sacrifices might have to be made, when you keep the faith and push through, good things happen!

O.K. Jon...Let's be honest, there's no real 'lesson' here lol

This is just me sharing my thoughts on a Wednesday night because my friend is having a card game with his family and it's too loud to record The Road To 10k ;)

Thanks for reading my 'woe is me' post. I hope it didn't come off that way, because I really do feel so blessed to have these opportunities and to be able to share those thoughts on this amazing blockchain :)

I wish you good luck with your move back.
I hope you guys will settle good and won’t have to move ever again.
I can feel the pain as we moved a month to ago though it was just 3 hours away. Can’t even imagine 6000 km.

101% True

Our memories are always with families, even when you're gone, your memories live long with them. It might be a little rough sometimes when we agree to diagree but at the end it'll all end well as long as you keep pushing.

Thanks for sharing your story man. I was really wondering what you were doing in Vancouver after having moved through the continent again. I totally agree with you about family. Yesterday I left my wife and my two kids in Turkey. They will stay with my wifes family for 3 more weeks and I had to come home to work. It's really difficult to be away from them. I can't imagine how it is for you to be away for such a long time. If you need some help for CTP stuff, just tell me. I'm back home and I have some time now :-)

You're tough man. When I think that sometimes my day can be ruined by a bad night sleep, I feel a little ashamed by comparison. A really bad night sleep, that's true, lol.

Of course I learnt something. The power of love and family. The thought and love for your life gives you hope. It just made me rethink how I feel about my family. Thanks for this.

Wow! That's tough!

Thanks for sharing this with us, Jon.

Regarding what you are saying... "there's no lesson here"... Well, I've heard someone saying once, "A man can be a millionaire. But without love (especially the love of his family), he is just a poor man with lots of money in the bank".

Family is everything!

It is not easy for sure and I'm 1h plane away from my family!
It's been more than a year now last time I've been with my parents and Facebook Messenger has been a blessing for them to see their grandson.
But it was my choice to come to the island and life here is better...plus my other family is awesome!
Gratitude and family...my everything :)
Hang it there sir, almost time to go back!
