Wisdom From My Wife

Wisdom From My Wife.png

I had a really rough day yesterday...

For the first time in quite sometime I didn't write or create a blog post on a Tuesday.

If you know me, that means something was up....

I was having a 'whining and complaining' session...

@blainjones and I are stuck on finding a developer for the blockchain side of our business, so I was feeling like a victim....

Wahh wahhh, no one wants to work with us!!!

I then started looking at our totals for the past few weeks in our online business...

Wahh wahhh, it's not where I want the numbers to be!!!!

A big sale that we were hoping for fell through and the client moved onto other options....

Wahh wahhh, it's not fair!

Yeah I was pathetic yesterday lol

So while I'm sitting in my office last night, my wife comes in and reminded me of how lucky I truly am to be an entrepreneur!

She laid it out like this for me....

There is no rush!

She stated that the 'rush' was for us to get moved and situated in our new home and community. Now that we are here, I can focus and take my time re-building things!

Enjoy the process she said!

I'm very grateful for my wife (@thedaolson on Hive but she NEVER posts content...I'm working on that lol)

She saw that I was really struggling and reminded me that our greatest challenge this year, was in the rear view mirror. Our goal was to get moved across the country and get settled in our new home. Which we have done...

Now she once again said to me, is the time to enjoy the process. Take my time and do things right, instead of rushing and feeling the stress of having to 're-build' all at once.

Wise words :)

I think sometimes as entrepreneurs we feel this 'need' to be busy and working 24/7...I'm nit saying to not hold ourselves accountable, and work hard...I'm saying that we tend to feel that 'busy' is productive...When sometimes, being productive can be, sitting back and reading a book. Watching a TED talk. Listening to a podcast....Refreshing ourselves for the challenges ahead.

So today, I'm doing something different....

I'm enjoying the process :)

I always try to 'set a schedule' and make sure I create one post a day here on the blockchain....

Well, today I'll do 2 ;)

Not because I have to...But rather because I want to. Yesterday the blockchain did not HAVE to have me here creating, the world kept spinning...Instead, I relaxed last night, spent some time with my family and reflected on how blessed I am to be an entrepreneur.

The journey for me, includes the ability to....Take my time and enjoy this stuff!

I'll find a blockchain developer, when it's the right fit!

Blain and I will hit those totals, once he gets moved and settled (yeah he's moving across the country too lol)

I might have missed that big sale this week, but there will be opportunities to secure more customers as long as I put value out to the market!

Entrepreneurship truly is a blessing.

Sometimes I think we need to remember that and enjoy the process much more than simply...Staying busy!

Don't you hate it when the wife rains on our pity party, uh, I mean brings us back to our senses with a bit of logic (especially when it is stuff we already know)?

You need to relax more Jon. Go weed the back yard and get ready to plant a garden next spring work will always be there. That is another nice thing about working for yourself from home you can work your own hours. As the old saying goes "stop and smell the roses on the way by"

Been there and comes as goes, but I'm lucky to have the Swarm family to keep me up!

Just visited your wife profile, a very nice quote on the picture of great philanthropist Ratan Tata.

I guess you can undoubtedly go with her wisdom.

I just read through this and I was sitting here thinking about how much good Theda has been in your life. Besides the very obvious family. She's a keeper.

WHAT? You didn't post yesterday? Oh noes. From the guy that's three a week max :) I'm going to astound the world and publish on back to back days! My tomorrow post is scheduled! Course, it's a month end comment recap for a challenge I managed to get tangled up in.

I have a Dutch woman from PHC that ends her posts "Be Creative, not bee-sy" Pretty good advice I think.

Your wife is a smart woman... maybe you should bring her up in some of the webinars... It looks that she could help others on their journey... :)

I think you should slow a little and learn to enjoy your wife and children, you have been working so hard, so taking one day will not hurt anyone. And everything with ctp will still be going just as you planned. You did a great job, both you and Blain.

Oh they are priority without a doubt.

That's why during the day I'm not around that much. I get most of my work done around these times of the day and night :)

I am not surprised your wife is so wise, she found you. She gave you great advice yesterday, I hope you listened.

I can imagine someone not wanting to work with you. They must be very short-sighted so you probably didn't them anyway. Wah-wah, the right one is out there.

I used to really take offense to it, but now I just thinki I need to keep pushing forward and improving.

Be so good at what you do, that they can't ignore you I think is the saying. Forward we go :)

Ha! I've been there too. Also have a wife that doesn't post, working on that too. Matter of fact I have two sons that don't post ( too busy with school ). I guess I can't bug them too much when it's been 9 days or so for me... sit back every now and then and breath. Its hard to do, I'm trying to teach my boys that as well. You build and work with a solid base and things will happen.

LOL Too funny. Yeah same with my oldest son, year 2 of university and I can't drag him to post at all....One day Hive will attract that demographic lol

Love this! It really helps when you have someone special in your life to point out the things that truly matter: the journey. I understand completely how it can be to get wrapped up in the mentality of having to be productive all the time. It is an easy road to go down & hard to get off of if you don't watch out.

I am really glad you were able to enjoy quality time with your family & the fruits of your labor. Timing is everything & sometimes when one door closes, it allows a new one to open. Usually, that new door leads to an even better thing. :)

Shout out to Theda. Wise words from a wise woman. I always liked her! ;)

Our better halves do have a way of leveling us out and recalibrating us sometimes. They know us better than we know ourselves most of the time. Just went through a similar funk recently and the wife leveled me out yesterday and said to get back on my horse and gave me a hand back upon it.

You have a good partner Jon, listen to her, she sounds like a wise one :-)

Love my wife, she is my rock, and always listen to her when it comes to how or what I am thinking.

The errors in our ways lol

Yeah I really appreciated it. Helped me get focused and enjoy this journey that much more!

so many great things happened here in this post.
A few great things are:

Husband is getting cranky as life is fighting what he "wants"
Wife gives honest supportive comment to the husband.
Husband actually has the ability to listen & hear (us men usually only do half)
Husband accepts the suggestion and puts it to work.
Husband feels better. life, work, home & marriage all a little better.

The greatest however is:
JonG puts our very precious male ego on the back shelf and puts this post out giving his wife ALL the credit.
BOOM! this is freaking awesome.

So, what can we do to get this wise woman sharing more valuable insights with our little world?
Perhaps you can hook her up with badges? just sayin.
