About the Limits...

avatar

Today, I had an interesting conversation with @jongolson in the comments section on his post about taking our destiny into our hands... How there is no sense sitting on the sofa, waiting for your numbers to be chosen in the lottery drawing... And you didn't even buy a ticket!

Inspired by that discussion, I wanted to create a post about the importance of taking action... The idea was to search the Internet for an interesting quote about taking action and write a post about (around) it... So, I took action and start searching... But instead of finding the quote in the "box" that I have imagined, I bumped on this one that you have in front of your face!

Your limits are YOUR limits.jpg
Created in Canva.com

It is just perfect! I haven't met a better (and simpler) quote for some time... Please repeat it in loud... “Your limits are YOUR limits"...

I thought that I will never be able to speak English (not my native language) in person, ever! I learned English in school, but still, I was very insecure when I had to conversate with someone... Now, I speak Spanish with my friends and I didn't even know that language at all just a couple of years ago!

I put the limit on myself that I can't speak English, and when I tried, I would just suck... And I would quit... I didn't know that it has to be like that! Nobody told me that... I probably still suck, but I don't care... lol... (it's not that I don't care, I try to improve it...)

-----=====(((((( ooooooooooo )))))=====-----

The same goes for other things... I was telling myself that I can't set up a machine for hosting, and I was hiring someone else to do that many times... Until the moment that the person wasn't available, and I had to do it alone... I REMOVED the limit and just DID IT!

We can do so many things but we aren't aware of our potential as we undervalue ourselves ... Not giving ourselves the chance to try it, and just do it... Give yourself a chance and remove YOUR limits

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

This sounds so familiar..... haha
Ten plus years ago someone told me that I should do something on the radio, because of my voice and last year another person mentioned that I could go into vlogging if I wanted to, because I'm very talkative and engaging. Haven't really looked into it yet, but it's indeed the barriers we put up ourselves. Here we call it "de drempel is even te hoog" (the threshold is a bit steep for now), but once you take the first steps it gets easier every time.

The same with using Canva to create flyers, posters, etc. I learned how to use it just last year and I was apprehensive, because it was new and there was always someone else who had experience in designing. But it was part of my task 🙈
Well now I'm more accustomed using it, but still learning and navigating this app. It's still not my favorite task, but I'm now more acquainted with it.

And regarding Spanish, I should be more around Spanish speakers so I could train, because I've also only learned the language in school and have forgotten most things 🙈

Here's some !WINE to start the weekend.

Well, now it's official! You have to do it! :) Especially if you have the support of your closest ones... They know that you will be good with that, so why not?

Nobody from my "real (offline) life" told me to start vlogging (probably with a reason... lol...), but I had support from my online friends that didn't know how I look like, or how I speak... I hated to go in front of the camera, and I have just a few photos from my childhood because of that...

Anyway, you should do 20-30 vlogs for a start and see how it goes... I have no doubt that you would do awesome work as you have a lot to tell to your audience...

Thanks for the wine, I can't give you another glass, but I hope they will launch it again soon! Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you and yeah I do have a lot to say and am very opinionated 😅
The thing is I don't like the sound of my voice, but I guess that almost everyone else has that problem. But thanks, I will start small. Small short videos to get a bit used to my voice.

Well I don't notice that you don't like the camera, so good job hiding that when vlogging 👍
And I know what you mean, I've also found a lot of support here in this community 😊

Keep up the good work 👍

I was a guest on the radio twice (10-15 years ago... lol)... My voice was awful... Now? I don't care... lol... And you are right, everyone has the same problem with hearing himself... :)

You will be great... I hope I will not miss your vlog... :)
Cheers!

Comfort is Death in the business world.

Exactly! Enemy No.1 is being in a comfort zone, without pushing your limits...

In Dutch there is a saying: "Een brutaal mens heeft the halve wereld." That literally translates to: a cheeky person has half the world. But what it means is that those who dare to defy the norms and regulations of the system are usually the ones that end up in powerful and or influential positions. Those are the leaders of the world, whether it be in a small or big role.

That would be something like: "Who Dares Wins" in English, and it is true... Sometimes we just overvalue the word "risk", and thinking about doing something has involved "risk", when in a nutshell, it's just a limit that we put on ourselves... and it's not risky at all :)

Agreed, but always go with calculated risk, which means using reason.
Some do the total opposite route and crash and burn when the pyramid scheme they went all in on disappears.

Jon is really motivating guys but there is no denying fact many members like you are will to push yourself and taking action daily.

Start is always bumpy but if you stick it you will always find ways to get past of it.

Thank you for your kind words, @saachi... There is a lot of talks all around, but I feel that there is a lack of action... That's why I like to shake Hivers to take their life in their hands and do something!

The start is always hard, but that's the part of the journey... It can't be all easy... Then, everyone would do it... :)

It is true. Many of our limits are self-imposed.

Yes, indeed... I would say that "the worst" limits are those that we put on ourselves... I mean, we can override them hardest...

You are right about that... It is underestimating ourselves if we think that we CAN'T do something... Especially, if didn't even try... And that is very often the case...

Man that's so true :-). We set our own limits and as long as we believe that they are our limits, we won't be able to pass them. Did you imply that we should learn to code LOL? Do you know what I did after our Discord chat yesterday? I watched a 1 hour video about python coding :-)

WoooHoooo! You made the first step! I have no idea what I was doing after the chat, but it was probably connected couch and resting... And after that, I had to do the work and create my daily content... :)

Lately, I'm very close to skipping my daily posts, but somehow, I manage to do them in the last moments... I have to stop doing that and get my shit together... Do the work earlier...

Wow, did I need to see this!!! And I think you just inspired a future Mindful Monday vlog LOL...how is it you always seem to know what I need to hear?

I am a big advocate of going out of your comfort zone & "pushing the envelope" to an extent to further grow yourself. Lately, I had been in a rut, distracted by other things & just not "feeling it." Little did I truly realize that I was putting limitations on myself - the very thing I tell others to not do...even a Pixie can get lost at times...

I was continually waiting for that inspiration to kick in, but it wasn't coming. I was telling myself that I was tapped out and now I realize I need to just do it...sometimes, we need to just push on because yes, we will suck at times or even downright fail. But in that, comes the learning opportunity & how we can grow to be better...

This was the kick in the butt I needed. Thanks, Zoltan...this is a sign to get back to work & start providing the value I know I can give! Keep on inspiring! ;) 💚

Well, you are not alone... I'm in a similar position, but somehow, at the end of the day, I push myself over the edge and do "the thing"... I think it is just a phase that happens to everyone... The most important thing is to get out from it and do the work!

Thanks for the awesome comment! Always appreciate your support!

We each have some true actual limits, like I will never be tall.
Some of the perceived limits we have are taught to us,
Teachers, parents, others, they are speak lies that sometimes unconsciously
we decide to believe. Heck and then they turn into true limits.

I agree, break some chains, retrain some thoughts and remove some limits.

There is even the worse thing... When we speak to ourselves things that limit us... Convincing ourselves that we can’t, or we shouldn't...
