Sometimes I record more than one vlog in one day, but I don't want to overwhelm you guys with too much information... I have recorded this one a week ago, and I remember that @russellstockley mentioned decisions, that are made outside and just served to us... Inspired by that, I have done one post and mentioned in it that I will tell you this personal story... This is not a fiction, this has happened... :)

We think that we are making decisions by own when it isn't like that... and in the end, we are even satisfied with the results and our choice... Check out the video...

Sorry about the wind in a couple of moments it was too strong...

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

Just from the title, I get this is about the notion of Free will and is it really Free Will when we are a construct of our conditioning and that conditioning is a construct implied upon us by other.

In fact I wanted to make a post on 'is our Free Will actually Free Will'

Reading your post I see it is actually exactly that.

Now I will watch the Video

In a lot of cases our decisions are choesn by others :) This is a great example of how we manipulate decision making processes.

There is a documented condition called Decision Paralysis, this is created if too many deciiosn are presented and people will then be more likely to not make a decision, this is why advertisers will only present a couple of choices, which means that you are being presented with limnited options, but a choice needs to be presented so that the end user can feel they have control of their choice

There is also a documented condition that if we are presented with too many decisions and we make one, then often dissatisfaction ensues with the decision that has been made, because there is always the concept that one of the other choices could have been better.

The psychology behind decision making is quite extensive and intensive.

However, having said that, if we are set to believe out decisions are ours then we mainatin the concept of Free Wiil and will walk away with a certain sense of satisfaction, getting an endorphin hit making us feel good which will reinforce our next decision making process (another reason why Upsells work ). But as stated before, when our decisions are manipulated by external constructs the n our Free Will is only an illusion

Great Video Zoltan :)

That was the premise of selling that computer... Presenting more choices, favorizing one (not directly), and the response is manipulated... :)

Thanks again for the inspiration for this video... Yes, it was my memory, but you bring it back with your comment... :)

If a seller sees somone wants to buy, there is no reason a sale cannot be made

Well, in your example the client had a choice. Accept the replacements or walk out and look elsewhere for his dream computer. He chose to accept the replacements, so his dream computer was... very flexible, to say the least.

But there are many situations when your choices are not your own and you can't really make anything about that. Choices fade into trends. Trends can and are manipulated.

When you make a choice that is not your own, you:

  • may not realize that your choice is not your own
  • may be forced to choose
  • may think you made the choice and be persuaded it's a great choice
  • support the choice without knowing you didn't actually make it
  • realize you didn't make the choice and support the choice anyway
  • realize you didn't make the choice but be pleased with the result anyway
  • realize you didn't make the choice and be unhappy with the result; here you can do something about it or choose to do nothing
  • realize you didn't make the choice and stop caring

Accept the replacements or walk out and look elsewhere for his dream computer.

Yes, it looks like that from MY perspective as a seller, but he didn't have that perspective...

He came to buy dream computer, and he got EVEN BETTER than he wanted... - that was his point of view after the purchase...

and yes, you have some valid points on that list... but all that happens ONLY if you realize that that choice isn't yours... :) :)

If you didn't realize that, you are probably a happy person... lol... :)

Thanks for the awesome comment and have an awesome weekend!

That's a nice little story. Of course, you can see that the client didn't really make his own choices. On the other hand from a psychological point of view, the salespeople did a great job. Why? They actually asked the customers what he wanted, they were curious in his needs and preferences. In the end everybody was happy. So where is the problem? I mean all this is great for a computer but what if it is something much more fundamental? If the manipulation takes place at a totally different level? How much are we manipulated already?

I think that we don't realize anymore what part of our choices are ours and how much is conditioned by our society and the world we live in. I consider this to be the tunnel aspect of life. We see all the lamps within the tunnel and the lines on the floor but we don't realize that there might be thousands of different tunnels that simply haven't been built... Each of these tunnels could be a different reality...

Huh... you went too deep with this one... :)

The point of the story was metaphorical thinking and you got that part well... I wanted to point out how EASY is to manipulate with a very limited "budget" on some really low level (selling computer)... But with an idea for future thinking how easy is to manipulate with masses, when you have enough resources...

And, the second thought that we aren't manipulated directly sometimes, but more led by society and "norms" which is another level, and for maybe some another vlog... :)

Thanks for a foof for brain and have a great weekend!

This is quite a story with a win-win ending. :) The interesting thing is it shows the power of a decision...

In today's society, we are all undulated with so many choices to make every single day, little ones & big ones. It's no wonder that some people are overwhelmed after some time. I prefer to have a couple of choices & go from there. As much as I like variety, I tend to get indecisive when I have too many to choose from. It's almost like my brain can't compute so it shuts down.....

Also, some people choose not to make a decision at all with some things. And in that, there lies a paradigm - NOT making a decision is a decision in itself. It's choice, free will, whatever you want to call it...

As a spiritual person, I am convinced we do have free will. However, the question is where does it begin & where does it end? So many things overlap the decision making process so sometimes it's all about that person's perspective as well....one can definitely can do down a rabbit hole with this...

But, to summarize, any decision that one makes should be his or her own. We all have that option, it's just up to us to exercise that...

Wow, thanks for making me think again, Zoltan :) Your videos are on point! :) 💗

This is quite a story with a win-win ending. :) The interesting thing is it shows the power of a decision...

Well, this is interesting as it was a WIN-WIN for both sides... Maybe a manipulative way to "sell our stuff", but still, the customer got a good product, and the seller sold his product... Everyone's happy :)

Also, some people choose not to make a decision at all with some things. And in that, there lies a paradigm - NOT making a decision is a decision in itself. It's choice, free will, whatever you want to call it...

And this one is indeed paradigm... You make a choice to not make a choice/decision... But also, this is very dangerous as we can see at this very moment in the world... People are "unable" to make a decision, and by doing that, they actually APPROVE a certain things to happen... And that leads to the hypnotize/herd mentality, which is never a good option...

Have a great relaxing weekend! :)

Thank you for the comment!

It was just a trivial example of how we are easy to manipulate... It's happening in a lot of areas of our lives...

Have a great weekend!
