Wow, another lovely video from you. I hope we'll see you more often. I miss the card readings. :) I'm all for authenticity too esp when it comes to posts. I do enjoy being part of the We Are Alive tribe as I celebrate my daily life adventures. An advance happy weekend to you. Take care always!

Thank you, Sis! Yes, I am making my way back to video creation. It's been a minute... it feels good to be back in the saddle again. ;)

Yes, authenticity is so important & sometimes, I have to even remind myself that. It's not about the numbers or the amount of likes (even though, yes, of course we all like those) - it's more about VALUE we can all bring to the table.

I appreciate you! And thank you for choosing my post :) 😻 Lots of love & pixie dust! ✨

So agree with you. More variety would be great I think. I enjoy watching "In the kitchen with Matt" and some of the other variety that shows up, but we need more! Good to see your videos again :)

Oh, I will have to check out "In the Kitchen With Matt"...that sounds like something I would like. I am a big Gordon Ramsay fan & other chefs out there so it's always fun to see creators do that here as well.

There definitely are other topics being posted out there but I think it would be great to see more and a lot more consistency.

Thanks for the support! I am finally getting back to things he he ;) Keep up your awesome content as well. 🤗 💚

Agree. I have curated my follows/groups so that I generally don't see a lot of crypto or gaming content, because it's not really my interest for the most part. I follow a couple of people who post about crypto to keep abreast of the news, but other than that, not really. But whenever I go to a general trending page or the latest posts on 3Speak, it's like 90% crypto and gaming. The thing is, that's what people are going to see if they just come visit Hive for the first time - and if that's what I had seen, I probably wouldn't have joined way back on The Other Blockchain. Luckily I had a friend on here and so I started checking out things via the tags instead of the trending page and stayed. But I think it's probably a self-perpetuating cycle; people see that when they first join, and if they like that, they stay and participate in that, and unless they're guided in by an extant user who does other things, all the other people probably go, "Oh, nah" and don't join.
My main blog (this one) is a mishmash of all sorts of stuff, and my second is stop-motion faerie videos (@faeriestories), and granted, part of it is because I tend to socialize on main so people don't see my alt around very much, but whenever people discover my faerie videos, I almost always get surprised reactions like "This is on Hive? I never see stuff like this on Hive, I had no idea" because you gotta LOOK for different content.

You make a VERY good point! I agree 100%. As you said, it's not that the variety of content isn't out there, but it's like hunting for a needle in the haystack. I was also concerned about the new HIVE owners that come on here & see just crypto & gaming immediately. While those topics are definitely popular & awesome in their own right, that is not ALL of what HIVE is about. Maybe the new HIVE owner supports the ecosystem here, but want to blog/vlog about their cats (LOL) or their own unique interests that don't necessarily fall into those categories. Right from the get go, I was always had my own niche & fortunately, I had a supportive community coming in to keep me engaged. I found other communities to plug into as well. That is what kept me here. But not everyone is going to take the time to hunt around and look for those needles.

That's another good reason to have people who check in with each other when they are new to the blockchain as well.

I enjoy your content so definitely keep up the awesome work. At the end of the day, there IS something for everyone on here. It's just whether it's easily accessible or not. ;) 💚

YES! Totally agree with you! I have noticed the same pattern as you, and I have to admit that I'm doing those crypto and gaming posts, too... But, on the other side, I like to mix things up by giving my own opinion about certain things, sharing my stuff from my private life, some nice photos, etc...
We don't want to convert HIVE into mainstream media where we all act like robots! We want to preserve the authenticity and uniqueness of our members! Share your story and you will be rewarded better!

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project and it will be highlighted in the next post!

Exactly! Don't get me wrong - I game a bit as well & will probably start posting a little again about them, but that isn't ALL I do. I think part of my "challenge" to people was also to get out of your comfort zone. If gaming &/or crypto is ALL you post ALL the time, take a different approach. Post about something else entirely once a week or something.

For example, you also blog photography posts, etc. So we are getting to know WHO you are & what other interests you have in life. Of course, not EVERYONE wants to do this, but if we can have more owners take a leap of faith & do something fun & different, I guarantee you we would get more engagement & excitement here.

But don't listen to me - I am just a pixie ;) hehe Thanks for the support, bestie! 💚

I agree 100% with you @pixiepost! People, especially new people, creating content on Hive see that they are earning rewards for their post. They then get dollar signs in their eyes and find something that gets them votes and run it to a hole in the ground making that kind of content.
On the flip side many new users show up and are afraid to create content out of fear of Hivewatchers and others for being flagged for plagiarism for simply being a normal user of social media. I've seen them destroy several new users for posts that are no different than what someone would post on Facebook or Twitter. I've also seen them destroy new users in areas with very limited access to the internet. Simply because they didnt respond to their "proof of who you are" comments in the specified amount of time. Believe it or not there are parts of the world where people can only access the internet once a month if they are lucky.
I'm not trying to bad mouth Hivewatchers I do believe they have good intentions. But they need to change their "one size fits all" tactics.

Then there is the Curation Circle Jerk. You know what I'm talking about. Where people upvote certain people's posts just because they are a friend. Then that friend return the favor by returning the upvote to all of the others posts. Wash, rins, repeat. I'm in on it unwillingly myself. I can see it. Take for example my video I posted last night. 22 upvotes 0 views. I think this is the main thing that is causing what you are seeing. People creating content just to post for their Curation Circle Jerk.

The combination of those two things has created a massive amount of people seeking monetary rewards and has given us mass produced content that isn't really entertaining to the majority of people. IMO this is the biggest unaddressed barrier to onboarding on Hive that absolutely no one wants to talk about. We've got a big chance here to onboard a massive amount of people right now! And its going to blow up in our faces cause those new people will come and see that they can create shit posts and get rewarded big for it only if they play nice with some whales.

All of this has created something that I dont think the Hive developers can fix. Cause you cant code human behavior. IMO the best way to get "genuine" content is to remove the rewards from upvotes.
But I dont think that will never happen.
When you take away the money and just talk to people you see who they truly are.

Those are very interesting points & yes, no matter what platform we are on, there's always going to be some definite challenges. When they aren't addressed, it does create a certain "stagnant" energy & doesn't always represent HIVE in the way it should. I do hope these things eventually will be worked out, but in the meantime, we can still do our best as content creators to post valuable content.

Yes, of course, there are people who are just in it to make the money & that's fine. I am not necessarily talking about them, because, as you said, we can't control human behavior. That's on them. Basically, I am referring to the content creators who are nervous about going out of their comfort zone & posting something different. Always be authentic & don't just copy people. The upvotes may be there at first, but I have seen that diminish or change as the algorithm changes. So, if one is in it for just that, it will be short lived.

When we CONSISTENTLY create valuable content, the upvotes & engagement will come. For some, it may be a modest but consistent amount & others, it will be a huge amount. We all have a moment in the spotlight, but the most important thing is not getting stuck in one niche ALL the time. I don't know about you, but I can only read so many posts about the same topic day in & day out.

A very interesting discussion - we all should be more open to this in the future! Thank you for the comments & I appreciate you! :) 💚

If perhaps more variety is needed in Hive but I think there are many good and really authentic tribes, which go more unnoticed.

I think so as well. There are a lot of great tribes here & unfortunately, not all of them get the exposure they truly deserve. We have to actively seek them out & not everyone does that.

Hopefully, we will start seeing more of them come out! :) Thanks for the comment. 💚

Interesting points you made in this video @pixiepost i do agree there is a lot of crypto and gaming content but there is also plenty of others too, in Alive and Thriving there is all the content types you suggested.

I think it depends on what you personally follow and look for to be honest because it is all here on Hive and obviously there is room for more.

Like reviewing shows and films there is a community for that cinetv there are food and photography communities as well.

It maybe that the people in your network is into the gaming and crypto a lot which is maybe why you don't see the rest.

I would increase your network of different content creators in the subject you care about.

Have the best day 😎

@cinetv is awesome. I am looking to get a little more involved with them since I love my TV/movies to unwind at night :) And that's something a lot of us have in common. Communities like that bring more engagement & fun to the table as well.

I am in a lot of communities as you may have noticed, but sometimes I don't always see the posts. As I mentioned above to @phoenixwren (& she as well), we have to actively seek them out & it can be like a needle in the haystack. LOL

After reading all of the awesome comments, I think it really comes down to a mutual effort - more authentic posts but perhaps also LOOKING for some more of them on our end. It is too easy to look at one stream of posts & not explore further. We can make lists here on PeakD, too. That may be something to post about so Hive owners can understand they have more control on what their feed shows than they realize.

Thanks so much for the input! Have an awesome weekend & thanks for the support. :) 💚
