Hive Times - Fresh Fruit and Veg
G Day Folks
Welcome to Hive Times
Today I went out to the supermarket to stock up on another week’s worth of Fresh Veg and fruit.
Its one thing to have staples and grains, but the Fresh Veg and Fruit is a must. I spent many years with my own garden and always had Fruit and Veg at hand; I could stroll out into the backyard and have a meal just walking around.
Since moving to the city I have relied upon our local fruit and veg store. Which has always got a great deal to choose from?
With the current Lockdown rules in place, although Australia isn’t on strict Lockdown, we are still permitted to go out.
The recommendations are that you only go out for essential items, and when you do, do just that, don’t linger, don’t stroll, just get in and do it.
So today was my quick trip to the Fruit and Veg shop. – There certainly isn’t any shortage of Fruit and Veg, goodness knows most people are stocking up on Rice and Pasta as well as Toilet Paper, which is pretty ironic really considering rice and Pasta are not the best foods for providing a use for Toilet Paper.
Anyway, as a result, there is plenty of Fresh fruit and Veg.
Now I was please to see that in the major shopping centre there were hardly anyone there compared to what it would normally be like and everyone was respecting Social Distancing rules.
I have to admit, I love this, usually I get 50 feet into a major shopping centre and I am already having crowd anxiety. But this is a dream come true, free passage, no one standing in doorways, no one blocking my path. Just straight in and straight out.
One thing that came to my attention when shopping is that some people have shopping indecision and they will pick an item up before making a decision as to whether they want oyt or not. And in this current climate that could be a recipe for spreading COVID19.
The way I over come this is to, as soon as I enter a shop/supermarket, I grab a handful of the small plastic bags. When I pick something up off the shelf, I use the plastic bag. I make my decision before picking anything up and often take things from the back of the shelf. Now call me a nutter, but it makes me feel safer.
There are many steps we can take while shopping, wipe down handles of carts and baskets, I have been doing this for years, I have seen some disgusting habits of other shoppers and have always made sure what I was touching was clean.
I use a disinfectant wipe when using the self serve checkouts. Many hands and fingers have touched the buttons, and I wipe down my swipe card after every use, let’s face it they are not swipe they are hold down to pad.
What I am doing may be extreme but better to have peace of mind at all times.
So when shopping, its not just about thinking of yourself but ensure you are thinking of others.
If I have safe practices then you are safe and if you have safe practices then I am safe.
One of the things that I have noticed with so many people in lockdown, self isolation etc , is that people are revisiting old hobbies, creating new hobbies and finding some very creative ways to amuse themselves. A fad here in Oz is that people are starting to dress up to take their Garbage bins out to the street, there are some pretty hilarious and creative videos available on You Tube.
With the level of creativity rising to new heights in people today I would like to feature a post by @eveuncovered

That is so true... lol...
Actually, this is a MUST here in Spain at the moment...(wiping out the shopping trolley/basket).. And everyone has to wear plastic gloves in the supermarket when entering the shop...
And you are doing it right... Why should you take an additional risk if you don't have to...
Stay safe and take care!
