Nice chatter and good motivation story for creating!
And yes, we all have the same perception of Australia... "100 ways how to be killed in Australia" 😂

Enjoyed the way the "brick" suddenly insisted on appearing in your spider story! LOL!

I sometimes refer to Beatles songs in English classes when a word or phrase crops up that reminds me of one of their lyrics.

The most recent example was "Nowhere Man." I was teaching an elderly Japanese opthamologist and the phrase "a message from nowhere" was in the text we were reading. Like a lot of elderly Japanese folk, he fondly remembers the Beatles from the days of his youth, but he didn't seem to know that song. A couple of days later he telephoned me - I hate talking on the telephone, but answered as it was the doc. Turned out his was completely blotto and insisted on drunkenly singing the song which he had looked up and attempted to learn.

Any reference to sleeping soundly leads to "sleep like a log" and you can while away most of a class on teaching "It's been a hard day's night..." - also good for teaching the present perfect and should clauses!

However, the most common one is "Yesterday" which pops up any time the word "suddenly" occurs in any significant way...

Hi david @ Hirohurl

i was always fond os Strawberry fields and Now that I am in my 60's when im 64 pops into my mind.
but I always, as many do, like to play Blackbird.

My mother was a very bit George Harrison Fan and so always had his compositions playing as well

I did one of those quizzes recently where you had to name the Beatles song from a lyric line and I got 48 out of 48 correct :) suprised my self on that one
