Omg, I love a lot of different things for ice cream toppings LOL & I have to choose one, geez ha ha....Chocolate sauce is a no brainer but I also enjoy walnuts, coconut, fresh strawberries, etc. It depends on the ice cream. Sometimes I don't need any if the ice cream is just good on its own. :)
Caramel or chocolate sauce is a must.
When I was a kid, the local ice cream dairy bar near my grandparents house (still in operation today) had a marshmallow sunday and it was simply melted marshmallow over vanilla ice cream. It sounds kind of gross until you try it.....YUM!

The best ice cream topping (besides sprinkles) is crushed M&Ms. The chocolate, the candy shell, and added texture. Is doesn't get any better than that. If you can't tell, I am a big proponent of "things" (nuts, cookie dough, butterscotch chips, caramel pieces, coconut, etc.) in my ice cream.

I love caramel and chocolate sauce toppings. When eating a sundae though it's the whipped cream that's beginning to mix in with the ice cream that I like the best

I once worked on an ice cream shop and they had a good variety of toppings, either fresh fruit or liquid and dry toppings! It is difficult to choose but the caramel cubes were awesome!

Ice cream topping is tough, there are so many things that are good with it depending on the flavor. I guess one of my favorites would be crushed up heath bars.
