Congrats on the win @rcaine
Moses Quinby was the first commercial beekeeper in the USA, with 1200 colonies by the 1840s.

Congrats to Bob for the win, and I would say that it had to be the monks in the monasteries way back in the middle ages, or maybe even earlier, any other name that shows up later will just be the earliest person we can remember the name of.

Congrats @rcaine !!

This was a very interesting question with several answers that depends on how the question is asked. I searched 'Presearch', 'Bing', and 'Google'. Presearch and Bing sayd this 'The first major commercial beekeeper was most likely Petro Prokopovych of Ukraine, operating 6600 colonies in the early 19th century". and Google said "Moses Quinby was the first commercial beekeeper in the USA, with 1200 colonies by the 1840s".
And all three indicated "The first human beekeepers weren't "keepers" at all, but foragers of wild honey. In the Cueva de la Araña (Cave of the Spider) near Valencia, Spain, is a cave painting dating from 9,000 B.C.E. clearly depicting a brave man climbing a tree to stick his hand directly into a beehive [source: Comunitat Valenciana ]. There was some descrepencies about the dates though, as the clip from above was from 'Bing', 'Presearch' and 'Google' stated as early as 2500B.C.E.
