Only mammals and birds are warm-blooded (maintain a constant body temperature. Being insects, bees are not.

Congrats to Yousaf (@yousafharoonkhan)!

Bees, like all insects, are cold blooded. This just means their body temperature is controlled/effected by their surroundings. That is why you don't see a lot of insects in the winter.

Well. I had to google! And I learned (according to the American Bee Journal) that a single honey bee is a cold blooded insect; but the honey bee colony is warm blooded creature. It can make its temperature different from that of the surrounding environment, and this makes it one of the most unique of all the insects.

How cool is that?

Congrats to @yousafharoonkhan for the win, and bee's are cold blooded, that's why they sting without mercy lol.

Congrats @yousafharoonkhan
Bees are cold blooded and there is a limit to the amount of heat they can generate by metabolizing honey and exercising their wing muscles.

WTG on winning the honey pot today @yousafharoonkhan

Honey bees by them selves are cold blooded but they are considered worm blooded in the colony, which makes it the most unique insect in the World in this situation.

As insects they are cold-blooded, though they seem such warm creatures! I didn't know the whole colony is warm-blooded - how on earth does that work? Does that mean each individual bee is cold-blooded as an individual and yet warm-blooded as part of the hive?
