Ladies of Hive Contest #21 Entry

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this challenge. I am particularly drawn to answering question two:

What brought me to the Hive community and how did it benefit me?

In my case, the answer isn't so much what brought me to Hive but rather who and that person is none other than @jongolson.

Jon and I have been friends since, roughly, 2011. We met in the very strange world of internet marketing. For a period of time, I worked for a company he used to own and even after my departure there, we remained friends.

I took a somewhat long departure from the online business world but always stayed in touch with Jon over social media. I recall seeing posts about this new blockchain that he was quite active on and with each post he'd make, it seemed like he got more and more excited about it.

I wanted to check out what all the excitement was so in 2019...I signed up for this thing called Hive!

Since I have joined, I have been able to somewhat re-establish myself online and reconnect with a lot of individuals from my past and I have certainly been introduced to a lot of new, fantastic people as well, creating several friendships.

To be honest, the whole crypto world is still so confusing to me and I'm learning little by little, each day. However, I know I can explain what caused me to fall in love with Hive with these three reasons:

  1. the community behind it is one of the most engaging and active communities online. Super supportive and just a lot of fun to be around.
  2. the ability to have a creative outlet....and get paid to create?! Come on, what's not to love!
  3. it allowed me to see an idea I had blossom and come to life...

You see, Jon and I have always had a lot of things in common. We're both Canadian. We both grew up in Toronto. We both love sports. I have way better taste in hockey teams than he does but that's a whole other topic...

One thing that we also share is our strong faith in God and or desire to grow our faith and get stronger in it. So, in early October, we were able to start something that I personally am so proud to be part of. We created our very own community on the Hive blockchain called The Kingdom - an open, honest, respectful place where people can come and talk about their experiences, study God's Word and hopefully grow their faith with us!

It's a place where we get to gather in praise and give glory to God. The idea to start this community stemmed from our desire to start an online bible study together. We now have a core group of about 5 or 6 people that meet once a week on Discord to study God's Word and just talk Jesus!

To me, that's the most impactful experience I could ask for - an opportunity to talk about my faith in Jesus and share my testimony, grow The Kingdom and make much of Jesus. I couldn't be happier!

I'll be forever grateful to Jon for sharing this extraordinary blockchain with me. It took me awhile to find my footing here but now I'm just excited about the future and see so much potential for the entire Hive community!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my story. I'd like to invite @elianaicgomes @griega and @lisamgentile1961 to join in the fun!

PS. Just because I am a music buff, I'd like to answer the first question too! My all time favorite romantic song is....yes, get ready...When A Man Loves A Woman and just to add a little more cheese to it...it must be the Michael Bolton rendition! It gets me every time! :)

Hey @jangle what an answer that was! Thanks for sharing your experience past and present with @jongolson and how you got here to Hive. I'm tired and uninspired at the moment, but I'll try and take you up on a later date! Thanks for the mention, have a great week! Lee :)

And written along the lines of a Personal Testimony too.
Hive is such a unique place that seems light years ahead of other big Social Media it's a wonder why more people have yet flock over to sign up and engage.
It's a bit of a long termed learning curve, as I am always learning something new too, at my own tiny pace but there is always someone or an article that can help clarify things.

Michael Bolton indeed, quite a steamy song choice.
Of course with my Gothic Retro style has long been Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Music of the Night."

Thank you for sharing your Hive Story @jangle 💖

Thank you so much! Music of the Night is fantastic! Actually, that entire soundtrack is fantastic! I remember recently playing it for my 9 year old who has pretty amazing taste in music and she said there in awe of the sound.

Hive is incredible. I think the people who haven't moved over here are people who either don't see the potential yet or are scared of change. I think they'll see it someday!

I really appreciate your comment!
