🗞 Bitcoin Price Gets Fed Boost but Bond Yields Could Play Spoilsport

Bitcoin’s bull run looks set to continue after the Federal Reserve reconfirmed its pro-stimulus stance this week.

“The narrative for bitcoin as the preferred store of value has only strengthened in the wake of [Fed Chair Jerome] Powell’s comments,” Matthew Dibb, co-founder and COO of Stack Funds said. “Our outlook on BTC remains very bullish. Recent retracement to $53,000 was a short-lived pullback before the cryptocurrency makes way to fresh all-time highs.”

Powell pushed back against speculation of an early unwinding of monetary stimulus on Wednesday, boosting the appeal of inflation hedges such as bitcoin.

Besides, with the Fed-related uncertainty out of the way, bitcoin and the broader crypto market may now see a stimulus, or “stimmies,” rally, as tweeted by trader Alex Kruger. As per Mizuho Securities’ estimates, Americans may spend nearly $40 billion of the latest round of direct stimulus checks on bitcoin and stocks, boosting their prices.

Yield worries persists

Bitcoin bulls will be keeping an eye on the U.S. bond market because a faster rise in yields could weigh on equities, inviting selling pressure for bitcoin, too.

🗞 Pseudonymous $69M Beeple NFT Buyer MetaKovan Reveals True Identity

“MetaKovan,” the hitherto pseudonymous buyer of the $69.3 million Beeple non-fungible token (NFT) last week, has come out into the open.

  • The investor revealed his true identity as Vignesh Sundaresan via a blog post on the Metapurser website Thursday.
  • Sundaresan said, "The point [of revealing himself] was to show Indians and people of color that they, too, could be patrons, that crypto was an equalizing power between the West and the Rest, and that the global south was rising."
  • MetaKovan appeared on CoinDesk TV's "First Mover" Tuesday to explain his reasons for spending $69.3 million on the Beeple NFT "Everydays" and why he chose to remain anonymous.
  • Blockchain reporter Amy Castor had theorized in recent days that MetaKovan might be Sundaresan.
  • According to his LinkedIn profile, Sundaresan is CEO of Singapore consulting firm Portkey Technologies and co-founder of bitcoin (BTC, +7.94%) ATM provider Bitaccess. He is a Y-Combinator alumnus, according to his own website.

🗞 Bitcoin Miners Earn Record $64 Million in One Day

  • Bitcoin miners' revenues are at an all-time high, according to a report by Glassnode.
  • Miners are earning $52.3 million per day on average, peaking at $64.7 million.

Bitcoin (BTC) miners are raking in record-breaking revenues amid the current rally, earning up to $52.3 million per day on average, according to a newsletter by crypto metrics platform Glassnode, published on Monday.

At the same time, Glassnode’s charts show that on a day-to-day basis, miners' profits have risen significantly higher. For example, the current all-time high of Bitcoin miners’ daily profit is $64.7 million, recorded on March 14.

🗞 Chiliz (CHZ) scores 1,600% gains in March as fan tokens outperform everything

Blockchain-based sports platform Chiliz (CHZ) is leading a boom in one sector of the altcoin world which is putting Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) to shame.

According to data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro, CHZ is consolidating on March 17 after month-to-date gains which topped 1,600%.

Chiliz up 1,650% in 2 weeks

With altcoins firmly back in the spotlight as Bitcoin itself is nearing all-time highs, anticipation is building that the coming months will produce an “altseason” like no other.

The Chiliz blockchain hit 400,000 active wallets on March 14, according to CEO Alexandre Dreyfus.

NFT boom buoys fan tokens

The sports token success comes in tandem with a new craze sweeping the cryptocurrency world — non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
