This week's battle challenge focuses on the Mushroom Seer:

The hidden Mushroom Forest at the heart of the Centauri Wood has produced many curiosities in the past, including medicines with strange and otherworldly effects. Recently, fully grown Mushroom People have emerged from this forest. These Mushroom People spread maddening spores everywhere they go.

A Reward rare rarity monster from the Earth Splinter at level 3:

  • Estimated cost: $1.064
  • Mana cost: 5
  • Magic attack: 2
  • Speed: 2
  • Health: 4
  • Silence: Reduces the Magic Attack of all enemy Monsters.

A magic monster that applies a hex by reducing all magic damage of enemy monsters is essential as you progress up the league ladder. Magic damage is used extensively the higher you go up, but the challenge is that while the Mushroom Seer is a good monster, it gets overpowered as you climb up the league ladder. Nonetheless, at the lower leagues, it does respectable damage, decent health and can counteract the Beta Summoner. Alric Stormbringer 1+ magic damage buff.

This went surprisingly well. I tried to find and play a match with the Mushroom Seer on my main account, and unfortunately, I couldn't manage to get a good battle to demonstrate its ability and potential. I often struggled due to its okish stats and was almost always dealt with very quickly by those damn max-level sneak monsters! However, on my alt account and in this battle, I was able to showcase how good the Mushroom Seer can be in the lower leagues. With all the buffs and hexes my lineup did, the Mushroom Seer didn't lose a single piece of health and could be the primary source of damage and dealt many of the final blows on the enemy's monsters.

Do you like the Mushroom Seer? Why or why not?

The Mushroom Seer is a helpful monster, and I have it leveled up to level 5 on my main account, which unlocks poison ability and level 3 on my alt account. Unfortunately, I can't find a good winning strategy on my main account when to utilize it, but it often proves to be the difference-maker in the battle on my alt account. Nonetheless, any monster that does magic damage and applies hexes to decrease magic is a handy addition to any splinterlands monster deck.
