One month of playing Splinterlnds - Still no clue what I am doing!

avatar

One month ago I started playing Splinterlands, a card game based on the blockchain, where the world has been shaped by blood and power. The game is similar to Hearthstone, but more like a turn based duel. Where "monsters" take their turns to attack enemies. You can play, earn and sell cards, and even borrow them to friends. Splinterlands is available on both desktop and mobile devices but I play only on laptop.

This is how it started! Made my account, clicked the battle button and chose Fire, had a quick look at the cards and made a team. Surprisingly I won my first game! I started to learn the battle mechanics but it looked like the 1st win was pure luck, as I lost about 7-8 games after.

In less than two hours, I advanced in tier, to Bronze III, and at the end of the season I will be rewarded with 5 loot chests.

I completed my first daily quest, with the fire splinter and got some Dark Energy from it!

The next day, I completed another daily quest, with the life splinter. I got some Dark Energy in the chest.

Just before the season ended, I advanced to Bronze II, and got 7 reward chests. Getting better during the battles, learned to create some battle combos and top teams but some players are just overpowered. Also struggle to adapt my game to the random game criteria.

The first day of the season, and I completed the daily quest with the life splinter. My rewards chests were ready to be opened.

The reward for the previous season had 2 Legendary Potions, Dark Energy and two cards. The Gelatinous Cube was a standard card while the Gloridax Soldier was rare. Until now, I didn't had the chance to play the rare one in any battle, as I tend to use Fire, Water or Life in battles.

This time, I sailed quickly up to Bronze II, and completed the daily quest almost ... every day!

Hard work is always rewarded, and in one chest, I found this epic Pyromancer. In high mana battle I always chose the Pyromancer and the Dwarf.

Another season was gone, and 7 loot chests were waiting for me. May the Gods of Random reward me with some cool cards!

image.png

But the Gods of Random don't listen to the prayer of a puny mortal. I've got a Flame Monkey, one Alchemy Potion, one Legendary Potion and 37 Dark Energy Crystals (DEC). Up to date, I still don't know how to use the potions or the Dark Energy!

I also started posting on Splintertalk, and completed the last 3 battle challenges: the Dragon Summoner, the Exploding Dwarf and the Sea Monster.

This week challenge had a twist and any Dragon Summoner could be selected. I only have the Drake of Arnak, therefore was easy to decide. I selected the Tortisian Fighter as a tank, and forcing a quick win with the Naga Windmaster and the Tower Griffin. The Serpentine Mystic was selected for the Affliction. My team was perfectly balanced and the opponent was week, so his Dark Astronomer had no chance. See the battle HERE !

My one month anniversary post comes with some statistics as well! I played 308 battles and I won 84, which means a 27% winning ratio. If this will be football, I would probably fight for relegation. My longest win streak was 7 games, but I will not lie about it, as 3 of them were awarded when opponents didn't joined the fight. My highest rating was 968 and the current one is 411.

I also managed to do this week's Battle Challenge, using the Enchanted Defender, a common neutral card is melee and will gain Thorns at level 5.

This looks as an easy task but the battle rules will affect the quality of the fight. I chose the Fire Splinter as this is my daily quest. Used the Enchanted Defender as a tank with the Living Lava as back-up, and overpowered the attack with the Fire Elemental, Pyromancer. Added the Chicken and the Toad to fill the ranks. My monsters will also target casters and healers hiding behind the tank.

The Goblin Mech was hard to take down but I won the fight as a result of fast and concentrated damage!
