Prompt A Day | Peacock

Today's word prompt: peacock

When was my daughter was still in school, I used to accompany her during educational field trips. Although I'm a working mom, I always made it a point to have time for her. I would schedule a leave of absence just to be able to spend the day with her. So what has this got to do with today's word prompt? Well, I do remember that one time that they visited a zoo. I could vividly recall that we had seen some peacocks and even took photos. Unfortunately, it seems that that was so long ago that it predated the digital camera age. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that I probably didn't have a digicam then, and there weren't smartphones then either. So, I couldn't share some actual photos of our zoo trip from years back. I'm sure that we still have those photos stashed away in one of our photo boxes. ^_^

I remember being in awe with the peacocks that we saw. For me, this bird symbolizes royalty or regalness. Funny that I didn't look it up before but that the peacock actually has a number of symbolisms. On one site that I found, the peacock is said to be a symbol of integrity and beauty. But of course, there's the idiomatic expression "proud as a peacock"

Proud to the point of arrogance, vanity, or boastfulness

Having a very high opinion of oneself, filled with or showing excessive self-esteem

Taken in that context, I don't believe proud as a peacock sounds pretty good, right? But we could still choose to stand tall and be proud of all that we have worked hard for and achieved.
