A Morning Surprise Out the Yard

Yep, I just gave it water a while ago :-)

And it's the Weekend! Yay!

Not that it really matters to me whether it is a weekday or a weekend. There isn't much any difference. Waking up healthy and sound each morning is enough for me to be happy and grateful because I know that somewhere out there, others have not the chance to see another light of day, I am fortunate and blessed to wake up to a brand new one.

Well, today is sunny and a bit warmer that it was the day before so I was quite excited to be out early in the morning. Stretch your muscles they say and while the hubby was doing some magic in the kitchen, I sneaked out the yard where I found something that made my day.

My eldest sister gave me one of her orchid plants last year and told me to keep it hanging outside so I had it in the shaded area by the bodega (storage). And just like my other yard plants, I never really tended to it. And to my surprise and delight this morning, I saw it blooming already! Wow! You would have guessed I'm quite regretful that I missed to see its buds, lol!

The husband teased me saying "you haven't even watered it for weeks but it's now given you something to be happy about..."

He's right though. I rarely visited it let alone give it water for its nourishment yet it survived on its own and even bear flowers that I now rave about. There's a small part of one of its flowers that was starting to burn probably due to lack of water and heat from the mid-day sun and it was too close to the roofing.

I do not know the name of this orchid (yet to check it with Google Lens) but according to my sister, it's an outdoor type. So I'm gonna let it stay hanging out there. I just took it down to take these mementos of its first blooms, lol!

Seeing it live through the conditions I've subjected it to occurred to me that it is the kind that I'd love to have more of in our yard. Guess it's time to make a little research on how to make it multiply. 😉
