And it's Friday! wow... The sun's up and shining so yeah, it's fabulous for us here in the mountains. I hope everything's well with you too, Hive folks.

Been quite occupied with things so we missed the recently concluded local festivities called Adivay in the provincial capital. It's an annual festival usually held in the month of November showcasing various culture and traditions of people through programs, contests, agro-industrial trade fair, games and many other activities making the capital (La Trinidad) alive for almost a month.

In the past years (pre-pandemic), we always made sure to go, watch, join the fun and explore huts and the many displays too. This time however, we succumbed to busyness so we have forgotten about the occasion, not intentionally but it completely slipped off me mind, lol!

It's just good they left some traces of the occasion through paintings on the walls of a primary school in LTB which the farmboy was able to take some snaps of while on the road. The murals are so befitting to the festivity theme, re: “Adivay: A Peoples’ Festival of Culture, Nature, and the Future.”

There are diverse traditional or ethnic dances here in the Cordilleras, unique to each province but I believe they have something in common, most are accompanied by native instruments like gongs (gangsa), hand drum (solibao) and others.

Among the various dances I've heard are courtship dance, unity dance, war dance, most I have yet to watch in person. In olden times, these dances were only performed on related festivities but nowadays, some are done for fun. Like one time during a getaway at a resort in Ilocos Sur, we encountered a family playing gongs and dancing their day away while on holiday!

Some people who have their own instruments even bring them out during elaborate birthday celebrations and play them too. It's fascinating that these traditions still exist today, thanks to the yearly local festivities like the Adivay for making is certain that they won't be going away.

Anyway, back to the murals, they were on a wall of an elementary school in Buyagan, Poblacion. It is not surprising because it has become common around here that fence walls of schools are adorned with various paintings and arts depicting mostly the local life of people among other things. They do make the fences look more colorful as opposed to being gray and dull.

This is all from me today and I wish you an amazing day (night) wherever you may be. Cheers to a beautiful life!

Aaahh traditions.. The Cordilleras are so rich with that and that's what makes the place attractive. Love that they keep and protect it. Would want to see a random dance if I'm there.
The mural design is simple yet it clearly shows the traditions. Nice find!

True that :) And I think it's the same with other places too. Thank you and hope that someday, you get to see a live performance of any of the dances :)

Thank you so much for your support of my @v4vapp proposals in the past, my previous one expired this week.

I'd be really happy if you would continue supporting my work by voting on this proposal for the next 6 months:

Additionally you can also help this work with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner

If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.

Culture is indeed necessary in most of our daily lifes too ,
Atleast it helps us reconnect back to our roots and makes us know were we actually started from,
Alot of people seems not to value their cultures anymore,
Maybe due to personal believe or other things.
But i know for sure everyone's culture is actually unique in their own ways,😉,
Thanks for the post
