Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (1939 - 1945)
During my tour to Thailand a few years ago, I visited this Kanchanaburi War Cemetery. The soldiers buried here were prisoners of war and also victims of Japanese imprisonment. They were here to build the Burma Railway bridge. This bridge has also become a tourist spot these days. This Bridge was built on River Kwai Thailand. A safari train also runs on this bridge for tourists.
The soldiers whose names are on the wall had perished in captivity and their ashes were buried together in two graves. In this graveyard, some foreign soldiers are also buried. Those foreign soldiers belonged to America, Dutch, Britain, and the commonwealth countries. The Memorial also has 11 graves of soldiers from India, who are buried in Muslim cemeteries.
