Great progress has been made...just wish we've learned our lesson.

Ever since the Steemit / Steem / Tron / Hive saga started, almost every single individual that was invested in STEEM, has kept themselves busy trying to understand and be informed through numerous publications both on and off chain what would be more beneficial for their needs.

The smart ones have fully migrated to Hive...

....and at the same time they keep a close eye on Steem and Justin Sun's next moves because regardless of the size of one's wallet everyone will have to go through these 13 weeks of uncertainty till our funds (at least for those that have initiated a power down procedure) are safe and sound...

I mean...how knows...these days it is accustomed to be censored on Steem if you dare being vocal about HIVE or if Justin simply doesn't like your content....

And when I say censored I mean censored as fuck. Like, not being able to integrate with the Steem blockchain at all.

There is a list that keeps growing. Hopefully those on that list still have access to their Steem wallets...for now...

But who knows...tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, Justin might have different plans and everything you've been working for all these years could end up being nullified...just saying...

If there's one word that describes what I am feeling right now, it should be uncertainty.

I can only imagine how big investors such as @theycallmedan or more recently @darthknight should feel right now.

It's going to be a grind...and a relief...week after week.

You might think I am overreacting, right? Well, nobody expected the ninja mined stake to determine the governance on Steem too...not that it would be used to upvote / downvote posts.

Nobody expected that users who have been on Steem since its very early days would be banned for life either, right?

Be prepared for everything...especially mentally...

I really like this transition, I really do. I just hope that we've learned from our mistakes...

Not everyone around here cares about decentralization. There are hobbyists too. People that despite they've migrated to Hive they don't care about stuff such as "governance" ...

And I have to be honest with ya all.

I really like the idea of a DAO that is flourishing with funds for any kind of development required so that Hive can become all those things Steem didn't...but as long as that huge stake is "alive" it is also a "threat".

This stake should by nullified...but that's just me I guess...

Who controls that account again? And...what if...just if...they decide that this stake should be used to determine this or that...?

Also... since there is such a big amount available for those whose proposals have been approved, is there a reason for that 10% cut from authors posts? Why should we keep funding an already extremely wealthy account daily, one that will take years before it drains out?

Other than that I think that things on Hive play out extremely well at the moment and if those behind the scenes keep working with the same passion so that we, average users, can enjoy all those great stuff they are building, then success shall be the only reasonable outcome from this.

I know that we are at the very beginning but hey...HIVE is already a top 60 coin...expect more eyeball on HIVE as the time goes by...

Have a good one peeps.

Cheers.

Seems we seldom learn from history, except in small incremental steps. Change rarely happens as a complete and sudden shift in direction; instead we live through seemingly endless iterations where one small tweak at a time is implemented.

What's cool about Hive is the enthusiasm with which many projects are being implemented, and the enthusiasm of users.

But yeah, I still feel nervous about what I have in my Steem wallet... and I'm just a tiny fish...

I am allowing some of my SP to keep working on @project.hope on Steem for the time being, and so I am not as concerned about the next 13 weeks on Steem in that respect ... but I am concerned about that huge stake pulled over from Steem that was the "ninja mine." Money sitting and being added to with no definite immediate purpose will always be a target for the likes of greedy dictators, and we are still human over here on Hive.

Yet we are only 13 days in ... I think we need to keep this top of mind, but remember: we forked with that 10 percent cut from authors already running, meaning it will require another fork to change that. As for burning that old stake ... people are always loathe to burn money BUT, it would be the simplest solution...

Week after week, I like that. Developments proceed on both our side as HIVE and their side as STEEM. HIVE is super new. Even if it was technically a hardfork of a previously built chain, there are still a lot of things to do and a lot of things to change. It is especially hard when there is no Big Boss around. It's all teamwork but it's slowly growing. Apps are being ported, dev environments being ported. It's getting there.

STEEM on the other hand... I honestly do not know, first, came the post censorship, which then turned into node-level censorship. Weird, unknown accounts popping and receiving witness votes to become consensus witnesses from the same people, witness introductions translated by Google Translate, it's really weird. To be honest, to go as far as creating fake accounts, fake witnesses.

We'll probably never know when a hardfork will affect STEEM, change how everything is being done. Maybe make power down instant, maybe a few days. I am a new witness, but even with my limited experience, I can understand what is going on. Having the "top 50" witnesses all under one person, the Big Boss isn't really a good feat. Especially for a cryptocurrency that was built upon DPoS. DELEGATED. Proof of Stake.

I don't see any future for STEEM. Even though it is sad. Yeah, the price may go up and down here and there, but there is no future. HIVE, on the other hand, is open to everyone. Doesn't matter if you just registered or here for years. You can become a witness, (a real one, mind you) a blogger, a developer, a project owner everything. The possibilities are endless.

Again, a big thanks and good luck to everyone who is taking part in the development of HIVE, whether by directly programming the chain, developing new apps, helping out the community, and finally, being the community. STEEM is owned by one, HIVE is owned by all.

The DAO account can't vote. No one has the keys to allow that to happen. The only "control" that exists in the code is the ability for stakeholders to vote on proposals that distribute the fund there. Also, note that proposals can only slowly spend the funds in that account.

Thanks for the clarification @blocktrades. It's a 'relief' for everyone actually.

Also, note that proposals can only slowly spend the funds in that account.

Slowly such as?

Max. ~4500 HBD per day if stakeholders would vote more proposals (max 1% of total DHF). As of right now, the fund spend per day is 1210 HBD you can check yourself and calculate here

i just hope that we all "learned our lesson". if this goes to hell as well then we are doomed to repeat the same and same mistakes

Nothing to worry about bud. Eventually nobody controls this account. There are no keys and it will only serve as a development acc

Apparently there is no reason to be afraid of anything no more. Have you seen blocktrades and liondani’s comment?

Inspired by your post I made the Hive witnesses aware of your concerns and made a suggestion about the DHF. I am sure it will fire up interesting conversations and will help shaping a brilliant future! And as @blocktrades mentioned above, nobody controls the keys of DHF. It can only get distributed by voted proposals and slowly.

Thank you Dani. My intention wasn’t to spread false rumors and such but I’ve seen people whispering left and right about it and thought that I should make a post about it.

Thanks for your input and your clarification also.

The thing is that even tho I keep a close eye on every announcement made about Hive both here and on Twitter I didn’t know that this account’s voting rights have been revoked (and I am glad our devs did it)
