Just when I think I am going to take a “day off” from uploading content on #HIVE, here I am! But I “blame” @achim03 for making me whip out my phone & do this short video (raw footage so excuse the lack of polish)...

Thanks a lot for the shout out! I'm very happy you got motivated to make this nice video :-).

I think it can be quite tricky to define what quality content is and people may interprete it in different ways. I believe however that it is important that when we create content on or off the blockchain, that we always do so in order to reach people. We should simply ask ourselves: does what I produce help others? do they enjoy reading or watching my content? would I read my own post?

Producing content just for the sake of the financial reward is a short term strategy that will be difficult to change later on and as you said it can tarnish our brand.

Thanks a lot for continuing on this line of thought. I believe the quality factor is something that we should all work on. If we can improve the quality of the content in our community this will benefit us all!

Now, this is a good point as well. It's all in the creator's perspective. I totally get that. So, it may feel of value to one person where it may not to someone else. So, it can definitely be a conundrum for sure. But if we do ask ourselves the questions you mentioned, the answer will become pretty clear right away. :)

I'm so glad that other people talk about this "elephant in the room" and not (just) me... :)
Doing CTP TIA checkup on CTPTalk, I've seen everything... lol... from cats, through soccer, basketball, and a bunch of weird photos... to the same videos popping out every day...

But, I do believe that quality will "win", as we are slowly moving in that direction... I remember the times when I couldn't find 4 decent posts in the last 24 hours... Now, it's a bit easier, and that's great...

But, addressing the problem of value in posts is important... If there is no value, there is no point...

This is definitely an important topic to talk about. Quality is such an important concept that some haven't really gotten a grasp of...And yes, I do know the kind of posts you're talking about. (At least when I post about Timmy, it will be different! 😂)

I really do think there's some misconceptions (as I said in the video) as well. The constant feeling the need to HAVE to post content every day, even when it's not working in your favor, can really get in the way at times. Not that we all shouldn't work hard at our craft, but sometimes just taking that one day off can help recharge the creative flow for the next day or so. It has helped me in this case (especially on the weekends).

Great video and really good point there @pixiepost and you too @Achim03. We all know that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'- that quality is subjective, but I think it's pretty obvious what is NOT good content, when the person is trying to reach for something to say, with long pauses, or repeated phrases, waffling on about nothing during the video and we all know that this is not quality content and I don't have the time to waste watching these videos, but yet I still see some of them get a lot of votes and I think how??? How on earth is that considered worthy of watching all of the way through AND being upvoted so much...Short and sweet/diverse and dynamic to keep the reader/watcher interested and coming back for more- that's how it should be and that how it is in the film and tv industry, as well as most (not all ofcourse...) video's on Youtube too.

I cannot even add any more to it because I agree 100%. Quality is a must. :)

The big upvote thing makes no sense to me either. I appreciate the way @threespeak does it. They are very fair with the way they upvote. Some of the other ones, I am not sure what their methods are, because some videos that are very good & high quality are overlooked when the not so good ones are constantly upvoted. (YouTube is a whole different animal that I don't even have the strength to figure out lol.)

With that said, though, as a Creator, I tend to focus on continuing to provide quality instead of worrying about the upvotes too much. The money will come. I appreciate the engagement & someone really getting something out of my content. Those two things mean more for me. And thank YOU for the engagement. 💗🌼
