My roommate and I were wondering what this meet up would be all about. Moreover, we had an Idea that it would be a meeting kind of meet up which we would spend few hours in. So, we decided to leave for the meeting late.

The information about the meeting was that we should meet by 9:30 am but instead, we left by 11:00 am and got there by 11:30am but there haven’t started. It was until 12 noon they started the meeting. After they started, it was then I knew the meet up was to discuss about career.

The primary focus of the meetup was on how to seek for jobs after finishing with school. Below are some of the points such were given:

1. ROLE SEARCHING: What this means is that if you are looking for a job in computer engineering, you need to know the role of a computer engineer most especially in a certain company you applied to.

2. UTILIZE THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA: Many of us only use the social media platform for chatting and watching videos alone. We don’t know that many organizations today have their companies online and the social media platform is the best way to reach out to them. Therefore, it is necessary to follow different companies on all their social media accounts to get info anytime there are job Vacancies.

3. ROLE SEARCH ON GLASSDOOR AND INDEED: Just like linkedIn, We have glassdoor and indeed. With these websites, you can search for jobs and also job roles.

4. JOIN DIGITAL GROUPS: What I mean by joining digital groups is by looking for social media groups related to acquiring jobs. There are many groups one can find on Facebook, WhatsApp and telegram in which job opportunities are often shared.

5. REMOTE AND ON-SITE JOB STRATEGIES: There are many ways one can find a job and most of these jobs can either be a remote or on-site job.

What do I mean by these kind of jobs?

A remote job is the kind of job that doesn’t require you to work on field but rather at the comfort of your home. These kind of jobs are/were very common last year when the coronavirus was fresh.

An On-site job are the kind of jobs that requires you to be present in office or on the field of work.

Since these two kinds of job are available, it is very important one don’t throw his head into one basket by focusing on one kind and leaving the other.

These were the points I picked up yesterday while in the meeting. Though, I didn’t put 100% concentration but I did try to take some notes.

Hope the meeting wasn't stressful, at this stage now, a remote job is what everyone is mostly attaining for, unless the on-site job is less stressful and has a relatively good pay for that matter.

This point is very Important, but for me I still prefer the remote kind of job, since I'm working from home, it's less stressful and the pressure won't be much.

At least schools are now teaching how to get jobs, not just how to pass their archaic exams.

I ll embrace such opportunities because there wouldn't be anyone to teach that outside the walls of the school. Its like hustle or die out here.

My worries for the food not reaching you.😄 I hope they didnt share tooth pick.

Hello dear based on what you expose and based on my experience I will give you my opinion: my work is on site, I fulfill a schedule for a company and for which they pay me a salary that is not very worthy. Many times I want to quit but the fear stops me to stay with nothing. On the other hand I have seen how there are companies worldwide that work remotely and that is what the platforms are for, the payment is higher, they are at the forefront and know how to handle themselves, but they still require dedication.

Hmm... yeah, they are jobs with good pay which only requires one to work from home. I love those kinds of jobs.

I see Hive as a job too because I earn more than what most of these on site jobs would pay me.

Hello, the truth is that nowadays there are many possibilities to earn money from home, which is very good because you can earn a little more and you are in the comfort of your home. In my case I am not currently working, but I am looking for one, but for now I am earning something from the comfort of my home, but if I am given the opportunity to get a job outside my home, I would look for a way to be able to do both.

A little truth, the job you would get outside would take so much of your time that you may not really have the time for your online jobs.

I believe as time goes by, more and more jobs will be available remotely. The scopes of job and job hunting are rapidly changing and it's best one quickly adapt to such changes.

That food no reach me too o. E pain me die!! 😢😂😂😂

Yeah exactly, but it’s best one don’t wait for time to go buy and start searching means of lively hood. Hive is a good one but one has to build first before it can be one.

Social media has been the key to unlocking great opportunities lately. One of my fears when Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp shut down was how people would survive... People who have their business running on these platforms... Hmm

Hmm.. true talk. I thought the same too but I was not too bothered because I know it was something they would resolve in no time.

Assuming it took days or weeks before it comes back on, it would affect a lot of businesses.
