I have been posting and reading posts regularly for a few weeks, and I see some Hivers making major and trivial mistakes in their posts. Some of these could be the time and amount of effort invested in proofreading. But I think some people do not know basic things and this makes their blogs hard to read or slightly confusing. Anyone can make trivial errors, but we can avoid some pitfalls.

Without further ado, let's start.

1.Capitalization.

This is basic, but I see many people making errors in this part a lot. Many people capitalize when they are not supposed to and use lower case in the wrong places. To keep it simple, here are the things to observe.

  • The pronoun “I”, not “i”.

  • The first letter of a sentence.

  • A place, person, thing, company. Something name, which is the proper noun.

These are the places you should capitalize. If you follow this, your text should look good and you are unlikely to make mistakes.

2.Paragraph and short sentences.

If you want your readers to enjoy your content, try to manage brief paragraphs. Here is the simple definition of a paragraph: A paragraph is a group of sentences that center around a topic. All you need to consider is the completeness of your idea. If you are making a point about something, once you are done, break your text. Brief paragraphs are fun and easy to read. Also, short sentences are better. There are tools that would help you fix long sentences in your writing. I will discuss that in the third guide.

3.Grammar

Your grammar and style are important. Your first aim is to make your post easy to understand and clear to read. You should make your post stylistically clear. There are tools/apps that would be helpful out there. My recommendations are Hemingway, Grammarly and ProWritingAid. Hemingway app is free but Grammarly and ProWritingAid have some paid versions. These tools are great, but they are not perfect. There are times they have their errors and they won’t fix every flaw in your texts. Therefore, work on self-improvement. There are many free English courses and you could get some free guides on https://www.grammarbook.com/ and http://a4esl.org/.

Short and clear. We can keep on improving our work as we get rewarded on the decentralized Hive chain.

Thank you all!

Thanks for the great suggestions for doing better posts... As my native language isn't English, I'm using Grammarly for proofreading, but I will check out the other 2 tools also...
