The POB market just went crazy because of some whale buys . A lesson on why you must always leave some sell orders at high price ?

avatar

Good morning to everyone . If you haven't checked out the POB market yet , you should . You won't be making any profit right now though unless if you had placed some sell orders at high price .

600%+ increase

Although this was short lived , it was fun lol .

image.png

Few users made some profits from this .

14k HIVE volume

image.png

Who was responsible for this ?

Well majority of the buys were made by @jeffjagoe who cleaned up the sell orders by buying literally everything on there .

Couple of big buys and sells here -

image.png

What can we learn from this ?

  1. Always leave some sell orders at high price lol .
    • Those who left say 10 POB at 10 HIVE / POB just made 100 HIVE .
  2. It is good to see the belief in the new community .
    • It seems the distribution among many users is going well with POB . It is always good to have top 10 whales with equal amount of tokens , it just means better distribution of POB .
  3. HODL . It is a good time to invest in some other tokens too on Hive which have attractive price ( like LEO ) .

Stop wasting time and be active on communities .

Yesterday I made a post about how the average LEO author and curation rewards are increasing , this is true for other communities too ( as per my observation ) .

So this is the best time for you to be active on communities , don't worry about the price .

75/25 rewards

Since there is a lot of discussion going on about this , I would like to provide some data regarding that .

I will be posting about this in a while . I am currently pulling data from beginning and changing the 50/50 to 75/25 ( basically simulating ) .

It might provide some interesting insights , what do you think ?

Regards,
MR.

WOW, POB to 10,000 HIVE a piece next! I thought it would go up, but not that quickly! To the POB Jupiter, maybe the POB asteroid belt!!

I really wonder what the future will hold for POB!
Staking everything for now 😁
Looking forward to seeing your post about 50/50 vs 75/25. I haven’t seen anyone do a comparison post with actual data so good on you!!

I always believe it is better to back our opinion with data hehe .

Without data , it is just an opinion but with data our opinion will become facts. Don't you think ?

The rise is not the end. We are still see the community, how to respond to the price growth. Transparency is the idealistic role in POB community. Changing protocols will change everything in POB.

I had set about 6 POB at 2.4 hive, I thought that was high and realistic enough, only to find now that POB went for up to 10 hive! Damn, that was crazy! I think this is a quick view of the future of POB. 10 hive would probably be the new normal in a matter of time.

Yea, but it is quite a good thing. Many people don't want to sell, they want to power up, so there isn't much in the sell order. That's a good thing that people take POB as such a prizes possession. If you want to sweep up a lot at once it is usually by going through the sell orders like you did.

Usual fake market manipulation. Interesting to see the name of the protagonist though who has recently been in Hivewatchers along with his gf and their many alts.
Its a real shame that a tribe that has so much top-quality content is being manipulated by a few huge whales. This is the whole problem with Proof of stake.
Whilst the vast majority of this community cares about quality, a few, as usual, only care about how much money the can screw out of it.

I sold some yesterday and now placed some sell orders at higher price, Let's see it this will pump again and i might be able to book some profit.

As you said... the perfect moment to sell some POB and buy LEO (or any similar undervalued token atm...)

Cheers!

Another lesson maybe is don't power everything up. I have no proofofbrain liquid to take advantage of this pump. 😊

I should definitely leave some on the market for these huge pumps...so lesson learned.

I think the simulation is a nice point of reference and it may help people setting up their tribes.

It's a pretty interesting constellation on POB and I really wonder how sustainable this is. I have the feeling that money goes out of LEO and into POB at the moment. Making LEO quite cheap :-)

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project and it will be highlighted in the next post!

Sure. There is no doubt about this

My take on this is simple :
Leave the 50/50, or I leave the POB

While the reasoning may differ, that seems to be the majority opinion.
So no need to worry. :)

My strategy at the moment is stake 5 POB every day and sell the excess (I get ~7 POB daily from curation rewards) and when I was about to sell my excess POB hours ago I was honestly shocked to see POB trading at around 10 HIVE per POB!!! I thought I was on the wrong token page. Lol

I was minutes late though and was not able to take advantage of the sell. Really lucky to those who have put in their sell orders at a high price. I am thinking of also doing that starting today (probably only a small amount since this is likely a once in a blue moon happening).

Missed it. Not that I'd have any POB to sell, I usually stake everything. You're right, I should put some outrageous sell orders just in case in the future.

I was surprised to see the big jump as well this morning.
What's the reason ? This looks like a manipulation as there is not big announcements about the community or anything. So i will watch the space.
Good advice though to add some orders at good price and you might get lucky.

The reason is simply: not enough for sale!

I saw when it went up a lot and I took the opportunity to negotiate a few that I had.

but I did it so I could sell high and buy low xD

I learned 2 lessons actually. One is to have some sell orders at high price and the other is to always have some liquid PoB lol

as of now I don't have either so it's something I need to work on

I guess there is a need to have liquidity in the market of Pob to avoid such situation in future. In the illiquid market some one can purchase all coins and take the prices to moon

Thank you for developing the simulation data. I can't wait to see it. It's always good to see a reliable prediction on where we would stand regarding a decision. I think it would help the community overall.

Also, 50/50 is a good model to keep in place. How old is POB? A couple of months old? I don't know that we need to rush to something new and quickly.

Oh no , the simulation data ( I will post it tomorrow ) in no way means I support 75/25 . I am in favor of 50/50 but I just think it would be cool to see such a data that's all .

Apologies if it appears I insinuated otherwise. I meant to give two different answers to your post. On the topic of the simulation, not only would it be cool, but it also provides a baseline of comparison over time.

Staying power is a measure of participation and investment. A community like POB can't survive without either. Providing opinions is critical, but without seeing how those opinions play out somehow, we're just relying on blind faith.

Even criticisms of your data will bear fruit. You can tailor the data presentation to address the questions of anyone. For instance, @onealpha stated his opinion on the awards system. Knowing nothing else about this person except his posts and voting behaviors, he is a consistent and successful investor. Is his opinion enough for me and my hard-earned investment, personally? No, but coupling his position with some hard-soft numbers to review becomes enough.

I totally understand what you are trying to say .

I , for one , believe every single community who is serious on Hive should do the analysis for their tribe and tokens every now and then , it not only encourages users but also makes things more transparent .

I have seen so many discussions and claims but many are just assumptions so providing a data insight would help to improve the discussions as you mentioned .

Apologies if it appears I insinuated otherwise

No , not at all . Understood your point :)

Well majority of the buys were made by @jeffjagoe who cleaned up the sell orders by buying literally everything on there .

I wonder for what reason he did that? Short term trading, or long term goals? Will he also clean up the buy orders soon?

And I also wonder what do you have to do in your life to have that much money on your hands?

I don't like keeping too much POB around for these situations. If I have some, I'll seize the opportunity , but I'm losing APR whenever I have higher amount unstaked.

Oh yeah that's totally true . I usually just keep 100 POB extra every week ( because for the engagement project payouts you know ) except for that , I usually stake most of my POB too .

Curiously I was checking the market in the early morning and I saw that price, I immediately took the opportunity to sell a few POB as I need a new smart phone.... I can only say: thank you Hive, thank you POB, thank you community, I love you very much.

It takes two to make a market and as long as buyer and seller are happy, that's what matters. To be fair, I calculated a $9 price for a pob token if everyone on Hive were to migrate over.

It's a rough ballpark figure based on the valuation per user. Could be even higher if we get more users than 50k over the years. Maybe he's onto something.

Thanks for the tip, still prefer powering up and support your project. Long term a better solution than trying to profit of these short bursts..

But it might be an option for small amounts, here and there. At least something else to think about and play with!

Thanks for the tip, still prefer powering up and support your project.

Well what I am telling is , we can do both :p

I have staked 99% of my POB and I sold maybe less than 0.5% of my POB at high prices .

And then buy back low to create an even bigger stake! If I'd do it that way I'd probably use a similar, very small, percentage. Food for thought!

I do similar tactics on the exchanges. If you have an exchange that allows for limit orders to last for a long time, you can go +/- 10% on just about anything and occasionally, you'll get it. I've purchased and sold hive this way. Standing limit orders that are 10-20% below the price get picked up occasionally when some does a mass sell and orders 10-20% above the price get picked up with mass purchases...standing limit orders are great!
