Knowledge is power but can power really compete with knowledge?

What is knowledge?

Knowledge is a familiarity, awareness, or understanding of someone or something, such as facts (descriptive knowledge), skills (procedural knowledge), or objects (acquaintance knowledge).

WIKIPEDIA

In a layman definition, knowledge is a total understanding of a particular subject or object, one can claim to know something when he or she has actually had a number of experience in the field, in such way he or she can tell about the advantages, disadvantages, likes, dislikes, causes, cautions, shortcuts, characteristics, properties, etc. of the subject or object.

A person can not have full knowledge about everything, I might have the knowledge politically and you have the knowledge in business, know know is an island of knowledge.
Knowledge applies to everything on earth, even down to the basic things we do on a daily basis.
For example: what to add to a particular meal while being prepared and when to add it.

You are always the master of what you know but what you don't know can devour you. I remember when I was way younger, age 11 if I am not mistaken. The first phone I used was given to me, it was a Java phone back then, then phones were still knew in the region where I stay and people had little knowledge about it and it's repairs unlike today, with the fact that I was young and clueless. This phone started up by having charging issues, something I could have spent few pennies to repair, i tried working different chargers myself still I finally spoilt the phone.

**what is power? **

Power is the ability or capacity to do something or act in a particular way. Power can also be described as the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behaviour of others in a group or society.

Like knowledge power varies, one might be powerful spiritually but physically weak, vice vassal. One might be powerful in the society in a geographical location but absolutely powerless in other places, one might even be powerful in his own home but be a coward outside.

Knowledge and power.

How much knowledge one is able to acquire will influence how convenient life will be for the person. Your knowledge about food will determine how well you will prepare your food to you taste, one's knowledge about wealth will determine how well you can plan ahead for a wealthy life, but without the knowledge one will keep struggling. There is an adage in the yoruba land where I am from that goes like (Kira kita odola) meaning that success in life those not dependent on how much one struggles

The richest people in the world today are people who value knowledge than power. Most of these people are the laziest set of people in the world but through knowledge, they have been able to accumulate wealth for themselves with other people's power(skills) and talents.

What will make a roadside mechanic remain poor and a mechanical engineering company richer by the day is the application of power and the application of knowledge.

Knowledge can be related to a key. A small boy with the key can get inside and outside a room effortlessly, without wasting time and even leave no trace, while power can be related to force. The same room that a small boy with the key will open and lock will give a huge man tougher time trying to break in. While forcing the door opened, he might get injured, waste time, and will get the door damaged when he eventually opens it. In summary, power might eventually do what knowledge will do but not as well as knowledge will do it. Power might just spoil things the more.

Knowledge <----> Power
A knowledgeable person will acquire power with time, no matter how slow. It will start with respect and trust which will later end up giving power, but without knowledge, power will fade out gradually. For example, a King without the knowledge of ruling might control crowd initially, but as time goes on people will keep turning their backs on him, and he might eventually be over thronged.

Basic points / Summary

  • Knowledge is the ability to understand a particular subject or object, having an insight on how exactly things should be done.

  • The more knowledge acquired, the more convenient life becomes.

  • power is the ability to do something. Power can fail or take time without the application of knowledge.

  • knowledge generates power but power without knowledge will fade off with time.

  • With knowledge you can make use of other people's power in your favour.

With the points listed above, one can easily induce that power will eventually bow to knowledge. It is better to acquire more knowledge each and everyday. The good thing is that the brain will never run out of space.

Knowledge is indeed more important power.

Just having power and not having the knowledge on how to use it is DUMB!

Knowledge is also what brings about advancement and innovation in the world we live in.

Definitely knowledge is the real power

I believe that knowledge is the key.

power can be a door that the key of knowledge will open, just as you can break down that door and get the power by force, but then it will already be open for a stronger one to invade and take it from you

already with the knowledge, you can lock it again, and to be able to take care of you it will be a little more difficult

knowledge is always the most important initial step
