My healthy diet and routine that makes me a SMARTER person

In my last post, I've explained how certain food can make you smarter. But do I apply that knowledge in my own diet? Read this post to find out.

Waking up, I start my day drinking half a glass's worth of one of three vegetables with water thrown into a blender. Considerably less than what's shown in the picture below.

A couple of hours later, I eat basically a half-filled bowl of cereals for breakfast, also for afternoon and night snacks. I use very little milk, but I'm switching to orange juice, because it tastes even better and regular boxed milk is basically poison. I may throw in strawberries and/or slices of banana. I always throw in one spoon of peanut butter, which is really, really, REALLY healthy. All of my minerals and some vitamins are here.

Meals are rice, beans/chickpea, egg/fish/red meat/poultry, one or two varieties of vegetables. All of my protein needs are covered, along with several vitamins. This may sound like a repetitive meal to you, since I've fit it all into simple categories, but the amount of variety you can get from it pretty much includes everything except for pasta. Regular pasta is bad for you.

If I really crave sugar, I add condensed milk to my granola, but condensed milk is poison on steroids, so I add only a little bit of it. I can also get chocolate. Dark chocolate is a somewhat acceptable substitute to cocoa powder, but I'll get some of the usual sugary chocolate too. Bad habits, but I'm still on my journey, and it doesn't get much in the way of the healthy part, because I am only ingesting a bit of it, specially when compared with how much food with added sugar I used to eat.

I may eat half an avocado, mango or papaya in the afternoon instead of the bowl. A better variety is always great, specially considering avocado is the fruit version of oat or peanut butter, meaning it's also extremely nutritious.

Hunger almost never bothers me, because most of what I eat has a lot of fiber, so there's very little room to craving bad food, but I do go on a bakery spree once a week. Fiber is great because it scrubs the insides of your digestive system, and it is slow to digest. I am eating a lot less, but not excessively less.

At least once a day, I stop doing everything productive, so I can sit down and play computer games, or relax with my cat while I play phone games. I also watch some scientifically fascinating or simply downright funny videos from my few favorite YouTubers. I am trying to go out for a walk more often. It's hard to bring friends over during quarantine, but we do meet at a bar sometimes. Humans are a social animal, so it makes sense socializing is stress relieving.

I had deep depression. I did all the research myself (do due diligence), starting from "what can I do to stabilize brain hormone levels" (or something like that). Over the span of 6 months, all of this has slowly but surely mostly cured me. If you could compare me to my old self, you would see I am completely different now, for the better.

I am very proud of myself for this, specially since doctors were never able to help me through the meds or treatment they've put me through, but I still did it through my very own research and effort. Thanks, internet. This wouldn't be a possible break through 50 years ago for me, if I had been born then.

Unfortunately, I've traded some of that health for doing a better job earning money. I used to run every day for 3 to 15 minutes (which yields AMAZING RESULTS even at that little a day). I want to go back to it, but my mind is currently focused on administrating all the crypto tasks before me. However, time is money, so having more money will end up saving me time soon, as long as I make enough money, so expect I will soon start being able to run every day again. Ugh, not like the coming winter is going to help.

Thinks I still need to do better: we're supposed to eat at least four varieties of grains, vegetables and fruit a day, but I can't always find the fourth fruit and two other vegetables. However, the vegetables I eat the most are cauliflower and broccoli, which, like avocado, peanut butter and oat, are super, super nutritious, so I'm not that worried about it. I need to exercise more, even if it only means going out for an extra 30 minutes for now, and I need to shorten the time I spend working, which I'm slowly being successful at.

So that's it, guys. What is your diet like? Is it healthier than mine? Weep or brag about it in the comments below. I know how hard it is to change. Hey, we all do.

You cast thoughts of mine here as well. I happen to have a couple of weeks wanting to eat healthier. However, I think the change should be somewhat gradual ... for now I'm just reducing my food portions. You are right about pasta and about "time is money", exactly. I am wanting to start an exercise routine at home, I am shy and I also hate going out. Here at home I think it is better, besides that I could follow videos of basic routines and thus vary the activities. I have also thought about learning to dance, but shyness overwhelms me. So I'm always looking forward to it ... I'll take your idea of morning smoothies :)

Yes, I did it very gradually. I think a bowl with granola/oat in the morning is the easiest change. Simply losing weight is not the goal, though! You can eat as much as before, as long as you include things like veggies in your main meals. Eating vegetables will make you will eat a lot less over time even if you're not trying to.

I think your diet is healthy, in my case I do not eat that healthy, my favorite dish is pasta, so I eat it in greater quantity, I am thin and it is difficult for me to gain weight, so I thought that if I consumed it much more I supported myself and when I didn't I lost weight. But I know that I must eat balanced and healthy, so in this way I will maintain an ideal weight. But I have not done my part. Ah! and I have been drinking the juice in the morning, as my mother prepares it. :)

If you want to gain weight, you need carbs. You shouldn't ingest food that is bad for you just to gain weight, though. There are special carbs food designed to make you gain weight. I suggest you look into those!
