Learn what is the one true meaning of love

Everybody will tell you love comes in many flavors. They say it's undecipherable. I'm here to tell you, this isn't true. Even if love can be chemical, spiritual, spontaneous, and even nonsensical at times, the definition of what love really is comes crystal clear when you don't ponder about its types. Because love is logical, and it leads to only one sensation.

We can easily think of many situations where love is present: as a family, as a couple and as a parent are the easiest ones off the top of our heads, followed closely by religion and friendship. But going deeper, we can also attribute it to arts and goods, from our taste in music to the sweetest dessert.

Imagine a link between an individual and the things his body and brain have labeled as "needs". Without further ado, that's what love really is. It doesn't matter how it originated, because it all comes down to the level of attachment a person feels towards something that has become part of their identity. Couples who can't imagine their lives without each other are the most obvious fit.

People feel the need for purpose because human beings are social mammals. Most of us must find some place in life we can feel at home, otherwise we'll feel void and empty.

Sometimes, our instinct is filled by linking our everyday lives to someone else's in a way that's better for us. Religion is another option, usually favored by those who have trouble socializing outside temples of worship or who have a lot of emotional issues with the world around them, therefore uniting paths with those who also couldn't become fulfilled in any other way, which is an unsurprisingly common conclusion.

When our families have our backs no matter what happens, they become our safety net. We do not want to lose it! A group of people we can rely on when things get dire? Of course there is going to be an immense sense of attachment. In the very same way, friendships are cultivated over time, each in their own unique way, blossoming as a different type of family just the same.

What is love? A strong sense of attachment created by the natural instinct of survival. An individual is chained to whatever and whoever they feel will reliably make them stronger in the long-term, even when it's one-sided, like Platonic passions. How attached people can be to something outside their own selves? They can hate, dislike, be indifferent, like and, finally, love.
