7 Powerful Hacks To Grow On Hive!

If one thing Lord Varys from Game of Thrones could teach us, it would be this - Knowledge Is Power. Also, Tyrion Lannister, the little man who cast a big shadow in the show. He used to talk about reading books to gain knowledge. Mind was his power and the information it holds.

Since the time I joined this place, I was looking for the answer to this question - How to achieve a powerful position on the platform? If you are someone who's new to this platform, this post might help.

Power Up The Dopamine

When it comes to making decisions on Hive, data helps! Prediction of the outcome becomes easier to find. Sometimes you still mess it up but the probability of doing that is low when you perform well-planned research & execution. It is done by extensive Information Gathering. When you learn something new, it releases 'Dopamine - The Happy Hormone' in your brain. You can reward yourself in a way by acquiring more knowledge. Now it's up to you how you want to use this power! I'd suggest, 'do great things'.

Through this blog, I am sharing my experience with all of you on how I built my influence on Hive in 3 months through constant learning.

Why am I doing this? Because I want you to set your expectations before you start getting serious about this place. Also, the more knowledge I share, the more powerful I get. Haha! Let's start:

Mindset

One thing I learned quickly is that if I want to see an iota of success on this platform, I need to POWER it up. All of it! STAKE! STAKE! STAKE! That's what I have been doing. Apart from a few 'sells' here and there to buy other Tokens, I am mostly staking all of what I get through content creation. Since I am most active on Leo Finance, I am buying more LEO and Dividend Tokens from my own money to compound the earnings. I will keep building like this for at least one year, maybe 2-3 years, who knows! This will help me attain a position to play this game for long. This mindset required if you want to have a major influence on the platform.

Social Media Engagement

If you grant me one superpower, I will ask for 'hyperspeed typing'. This platform lacks the level of activity other social media websites generate on daily basis. If you think that we are too small, then we are not. We have around 15000 accounts transacting on daily basis. Apart from this number, there are many more who are reading/watching content without interacting with the blockchain. It takes 2-3 mins max, to do a comment. Collectively we have more than the ability to generate 300000 comments in one hour. Engagement is highly rewarding. It gives you upvotes, followers, and more engagement. Win-win-win for everyone! I have hit 4th place 3 weeks in a row as per Leo Finance Engagement report by @abh12345. My follower count is 103 now. Just imagine how much you can do by commenting. It's great!

Ask '???'

Why and how something happens will answer most of your queries. If you put me in a room full of people, I will be the one who would ask a lot of questions. Do this and you will get to learn so much from everyone's experience. What you gain from it is invaluable since one person cannot do all the mistakes. You need to learn from other's struggles. This way you will also engage more in the community. And here, everyone is so chill. At least most of them. 😜 You will get your answers on comments while boosting the engagement on the platform. I learned a lot about DeFi by simply asking questions to different people in their comment sections.

Follow For Follow

There is a follow growth hack! When you read someone's post or comment, and you follow them. Do let them know that you did in a follow-up comment. Most of the time they follow back. 🤞 It works 99% of the time. Use this trick with caution. Do not overdo it! Don't explicitly ask them to follow you because that might come out as rude. Don't do it to grow your followers but to grow the group of people you would like to interact with. Having such people along with you on the journey helps!

Separate Yourself From the Crowd

Not many people know about Hive. This is the right time to shine inside the community by providing value wherever needed. For example, I create presentations instead of showcasing my content only through text. While publishing regular blogs, I try to notch them up with graphics. This makes the reader or viewer feel good and that's my endgame. I saw there is a gap in the engagement level of the platform so I took the initiative to comment as much as possible on daily basis. I have a target to hit at least 500 comments each week. Combine different USPs and create a unique brand for yourself.

Get Social Off Hive

During my initial days, I found it really hard to make my content visible. It was Twitter that helped me to get those initial eyeballs. Hive Community is so active on the platform and that's crazy. People tweet using #Hive or #LeoFinance tags on a daily basis and that's how you can discover each other. I have also made some amazing friends by simply engaging with them on their tweets and shilling Hive. If you are someone who is interested in topics like Crypto and Blockchain, then Twitter offers a free-flowing experience to learn.

The More You Know, The Faster You Grow

Crypto space is so dynamic and fast-paced that one must find it difficult to keep up. In order to be on top of things, you need to know things. Knowledge is the ultimate power that can take you far. I want to request all newcomers to concentrate on learning this ecosystem first and then put their all in to get maximum results. Building influence is a journey that takes time as all great things do. One must not shy away from learning new things! Your power to assert and analyze situations would get better and it will boost your overall confidence.

I hope you guys have learned a few good things from my experience. Please let me know if you have something of this sort to share with me and make me more POWERFUL. I feed on information. ;)

Although it was overwhelming at yhe start after a month or so it becomes easier, still learn something new everyday but it's better compared to 100% new stuff all day.

Feels kind of natural now navigating the different tribes, wallets etc.

Also I'd like to subtly let you know I followed you ;-)

Yeah man. It gets better with time. Keep learning about the system and show up every day. There's so much to understand but it comes as you go.

Thanks for the follow. Followed you as well. :)

It sure does, finally found a way other than peakd to use it on mobile. Logged in to pob inside the keychain app. Works pretty well. I'm sure that's gonna help with the showing up every day part :-)

The basic website looks clean always. It's simple and provides you enough information. For extra features, I go to peakd.

proofofbrain.io needs to develop their UI further to add notifications at least. Hopefully, it will come soon.

True, UI of peakd is pretty good. Do like supporting the tribe and AMR's engagement project by posting on the different front ends and it avoids the tax on leofinance..

Glad leofinance added the notification bell, needs some work but it's getting better!

Yeah man. All of them are evolving products. If they keep adding new features, it's going to be great. ✌️

What other frontends you think are great?

To be honest pob and leo mainly and prakd for ui and ease of use till recently. Discovered pob is equally easy to login to via keychain on mobile so using that on here mainly..

I do like how peakd has all blogs so you don't miss anything or search for something and can't find it only to realize it might not be tagged on that front end.. that's annoying sometimes

Those are some nice tips for people starting off. Let's hope you get your superpower of typing in the future when we start hitting the VR/AR realm. We may be able to just think and it will do the rest of the work.

My! My! My! If I did not get a lot of information from here then I am probably lying

Powering up the dopamine sounds like a good plan. For it gives you added advantage and your brain stays happy.

It is true that we need to stake if we want more power, and that makes us stay longer than the rest of the folks on the platform....it is as simple as that

I never knew social media engagement is this necessary. Well, now that I do I will definitely tweet more of my contents. I need my twitter page buzzing with posts, and comments, and the rest

I can ask lousy questions too. I just keep asking even if it feels stupid because I want to learn what I have to do in order to improve. So I just keep asking. Thank you for reminding me that I have to keep asking more questions.

For the follow up, it is so cool. You may not necessarily have to ask someone to follow you in the comment box. once you engage qualitatively with someone for a while, and you hit the follow button, the person will definitely do the same. It is a gabbage in, gabbage out.

As for the engagement part, that is magic in the dishes served here. We have to engage with the community to grow. This gives us attention, and the rewards are points, and followers. And we are left with nothing but to be proud of ourselves.

So far so good, knowledge is power. We need to accumulate as much as possible to reach the top. Thank you so much for this insightful entry.

Thank you so much @edystringz. I am glad that I could help you in some way.

It's great to know that you are doing most of these things already. Sometimes I struggle in these areas too. But I keep on trying my best.

But I show up every day. That's a habit I have built over time since I joined. That's how you can learn a new thing whenever you are here. 😁

All the best and keep doing amazing stuff. Cheers 🍕

I have been on this platform for close to four years. Your account has grown way more than mine. Even us old school folks can learn new things. Your advice is on target.

A lot of good suggestions here :) The only one I'll have to strongly disagree with is "Follow For Follow". I never, ever, follow someone back to write that in my comments and it used to be a joke back on steemit 3-4 years ago. I think the best advise I can give is to first set aside the time to read and write actually good and constructive comments to people who write on a similar topic as you intend to. You're more likely to get decent upvotes on those comments than youo are on your first posts if you have no followers. Second, to focus mroe on steadily building one new relationship or connection with one new user at a time. This will eventually lead to a much stronger following than to simply write short "great post", "thanks for the comment" replies to people all over the place.

Hey Fredrik, thank you so much for the feedback. I couldn't agree! I meant that in a similar way you have mentioned.

Making meaningful comments is quite important before you let someone know that you have followed them. Don't even think of doing that before putting in the bare minimum effort.

to focus more on steadily building one new relationship or connection with one new user at a time.

A healthy relationship takes time and energy to develop. So it's not a one-time thing. A follow-up is required to take it to the next level. It's a continuous process!

"great post", "thanks for the comment"

Big NO.

That was meant to be.
Mindset is key.
Engagement is not easy but
it helps to leap forward quick.
Attitude is another one.

Thanks for these Hive Hacks @finguru. By the way I really like your user name. I makes me feel good. I guess you already branded yourself as the "finger". I'm still not sure what my brand is but I try to separate myself from the crowd. I like your tips about getting social off Hive and I love dopamine. It makes me feel good. I haven't felt real good about blogging on Hive for a while but some POB community members I met have changed that. I'm having a good time on POB.

Thanks for your comment man. I call myself "Fing" and call me whatever you want. ✌️ You feeling good about it matters more.

It's great to know that you are enjoying your time on PoB. Count me in as well.

Excellent advice and if i could add another one, it is to take part in as many contests as possible. You get a lot more visibility. The worst thing is writing for no one to read. At least with contests, at least the contest organizer will read the post and maybe interact.

100% for the contests @charcoalbuffet. Thank you so much for sharing your valuable tip. They have a major role in whatever growth I had in the last three months.

Bonus: You get to interact with so many cool people. More dopamine! :D
