Impact of Delegation recall on the Richlist

avatar
(Edited)

It is not any other Monday. The richlist has seen the biggest change since inception.
The reason is delegations from @proofofbrainio account ended for many accounts. Many have registered this upheaval change in their accounts.
Additionally, @calumam also stopped the delegations to many.

This has resulted into restructuring of the rich-list. Most of the accounts (including my account) witnessed fall in ranks due to withdrawal of the delegations.

These delegations had massive impact on the richlist. Though overall statistics doesn't seem to have changed much, I have added a couple of more parameters to this week's report. This is exceptional development.

RICHLIST (3).png

Summary of the Rich-list

  • 16 out of 50 maintained their ranks as it is, last week it was just 10
  • 18 Out of 50 saw their positions going down, last week it was 12.
  • 12 Out of 50 saw their positions improving, last week it was 18
  • 4 Were new entrants to this list

Impact of the Recall of Delegations

There is a significant impact of recall of delegations. The community account @proofofbrainio has now become the biggest account with 124417 POB power. It was always the biggest account, nothing new.

  • But now the % of POB power that it controls has grown up to 19.64% from earlier 13.64%. This means, now community account has become stronger than before and instead of decentralization of power, we would rather see a consolidation of POB power.
  • The margin between the community account and the biggest investor account ie. @onealfa.pob has now increased to 10%. Earlier, it was just 5% as the community account controlled only 14% of the total power and @onealfa.pob controlled close to 9%.
  • As @calumam stopped the delegations, it had no direct impact on the top 50 in the rich-list but together with @proofofbrainio recalling delegations, now the Top 50 accounts control close to 86% of the total staked tokens, which has grown up from the levels of 83% in the past week. Again the community has moved towards consolidation.

Who lost in restructuring ?

Investors Number

This week the total number of investors were 3525, which was significantly more than the last weeks number of 3308.

Conclusion

Those who earned the tokens or purchased the same from the market were not affected by these restructuring, however, those who were dependent on the delegations are impacted by this recall of delegations.

So good to see that you are maintaining your position in the richlist. You are growing at the same pace with the community.

I hadn't realised that delegations were included in the richlist. it seems it will be more of an even playing field now for a lot of us. It seems to have worked well for me as I have gone up 3 places. 😁

I am really happy for you as you reclaimed the place you lost in last couple of weeks. Now lets try to get the position grow in the richlist. I am sure next week would see some more interesting devlopments.

I believe this move seeks to increase the HivePower of the @proofofbrainio account.

In Discord he mentioned that he would withdraw the delegations, both the welcome ones (I had 1,000 POB coming from it) and the ones that went through the HivePower delegation in a 1:1 ratio (I had 1,368 POB coming from it).

His idea now is to make a 3:1 ratio, that is, for every 3 HivePower delegated, it will return 1 PobPower, so the 2,368 PobPower delegation I had will now be 456 PobPower.

Priority will be given to those who were already delegating, and the remainder will be available for new users to delegate and receive.

In my view this will have positive and negative impacts depending on how the community acts.

For the small ones it won't make much difference, as they don't have POB, nor HIVE, but the big ones from HIVE now have an opportunity to grow a little faster around here without having to rock the market by consuming orders.

The positive impact I hope is that with this more people come here, the token is more valued and the price rises (I believe it can go back to the 2.0 POB/HIVE quotation level, which would be interesting. There is no basis for that. I'm talking, just guessing on my part.

Now we just have to wait and see what happens.

This is really helpful, I am sure @proofofbrainio makes some announcement about these re-call of the delegations soon. I am sure there would be some merit system involved in providing the delegations based on the contribution of the accounts towards the platform. This action has however, restructured the rich-lists and the announcement coming from the community account would have even more impact on the rich-lists too.

Current price of Hive to POB is just 1.82, which means ideally for every 1.82 Hive Power, 1 POB power should be returned. Does it indirectly mean the prices of the token are going to touch 3 in some time before the exchange of hive power will start? That's quite interesting to know.

I was never a fan of the initial delegations. I felt they were given too early and allowed people with HIVE to use to grow accounts faster. But it is what it is!

I remember you writing about the same and @proofofbrainio was required to come and answer some of the questions you posed. However, the delegations made by @calumam were based on the competition and strict guidelines. But yeah, it is what it is.

I believe that there was a good reason POB did it that includes keeping the integrity of the tribe as pure as possible.
Certain actions needs to be taken due to the rapid growth of this space and the slow yet relentless rise of spammers and abuse. All in all, we're heading in the right direction!

Ofcourse we are moving in the direction of spreading the wealth in more investors and more stake holders. This would give the chance to smaller accounts to grow rapidly with their delegated power. It would be interesting to see what rules are laid down by community account.
