A Short Story on Meditation

Stress is a killer for our Mental Health.

Heart issues, headaches, fatigue, digestion irritability, sleep inconsistency, muscle tension and pain, change in libido, and even weight gain — all be caused by your stress levels.

It can literally drive you crazy and send you to the grave if you don’t fix it now.

Sounds harsh, but it’s true.

▶️ I put together some ideas from an introverted friend of mine who gets anxious when going out shopping, to a restaurant, or even at work.

Let me explain what he is doing.

"I’ve gone way outside my comfort zone and I personally produced a series of guided meditations in my voice."

How?

"I have recorded myself with powerful affirmation that helps me gain more self-trust. And I'm simply listening to them until I reach a certain place, shopping, work, etc...By the time I get there, I am fully ready to start what I need to do and fully self-confident."

Why?

The “mind-body connection” is an all too often, forgotten piece of the healthy life puzzle.

Did you know that 50% of adults reported eating or overeating in the past week to deal with or avoid stress?

It’s a dangerous coping method.

Meditation also seems to be a powerful step to help my friend manage his cravings and improve his weight loss. Besides the fact that he is using his own recordings for fixing his social anxiety.

If you haven't ever meditated, then the best way to learn is to try a guided meditation.

Here are a few tips to help you, that Frank (my little rabbit, social anxious friend) suggested I should write exactly as he told them to me:

Start early- first thing in the morning is my favorite time. But find what works for you.
Get comfortable- you don’t have to sit cross-legged… find a position that works for you that avoids uncomfortable and distracting positions.
Create a routine- start with the same time, place, position. It helps to minimize what you have to think about before you even start.
Location, location, location- experiment with locations as you get more comfortable and see how your results change.
Relax- the point is to remove stress, not concentrate on it.
Breath naturally

Some of you might know that I do practice mindfulness and guided meditation, among other things.

🏊 Now, I am not telling you to start meditating or wanting to go into this subject much more. What I want to say is that I find it completely satisfying for someone over 160KG like Frank to overcome his eating issues with meditation, along with his social anxiety.

Every time I see people taking care of their body, mind, spirit, I feel we are closer to living a healthier life, distancing ourselves from toxic behaviors and self-inflictions.

Thank you for reading!

With respect,
@regenerette

That is good advice, guided meditation is how I started. I have gotten a little lax over the years in my meditation practice. It may be time to revisit guided to get things back on track . :)

It's exactly what I was thinking last night also. To maybe use the Brightmind app with guided meditation for which I have a life subscription or plugin my external hardware and open the guided meditation folder. I did none, yet, I've just watched a movie. But today, I'm using both Healy and the Brightmind app.

Meditation is the best anti-stress and anti-depressive medicine, it works perfectly and it is free. In my case I like to walk every morning and when I get to the square near my workplace I stop for 5 minutes to breathe under a tree watching the squirrels and pigeons. Then I arrive at my office recharged with positive energy, I feel that since I do these exercises I perform better in my daily life.

Excellent (and VERY truthful) post! So many people think they don't know how to meditate or that they cant quiet their minds but everyone can and should, imo!
