Paying it forward #pif contest ed. 3: 60 POB total to be won - Let's roll the dice shall we?

avatar
(Edited)

No, this is not a front for a dice gambling site😂This is the 3rd edition of my monthly contest to pay it forward and encourage newcomers to the Hive to engage with the community and participate in a contest that may win them a little boost in earnings.

Each month I tweak the contest in an attempt to make it simpler and more inclusive and this month is no different. As with previous months, there is an opportunity to win something regardless of how long you have been on Hive.

Prizes on offer:
All qualified entries will go into a draw to win:

1st prize: 25 POB (first name in the random draw)

2nd prize: 10 POB (second name in the random draw)

3rd prize: The highest-placed new Hiver in the draw is guaranteed to win 25 POB as this contest is after all to support newcomers😍 If this person is not drawn 1st or 2nd in the draw, they will be awarded the 3rd "new Hiver" prize of 25 POB. If he/she has already won one of the first two prizes, then this prize or part thereof will be part awarded to bring their prize to the max 25 POB and the balance will go to the 2nd highest-placed newcomer in the draw.

So these are the 3 easy requirements to enter this month:

  1. Tag a brand new Hiver (someone who started on Hive 1st July 2021 or later) in the comments, write approx 5 lines explaining why you like reading their posts / engaging with them, and invite them to enter the contest. If you want to earn additional entries, simply tag and promote more new Hivers 😀Each tag/promotion earns an extra entry provided all 3 requirements of the contest are met. Each new Hiver tagged also gains an automatic entry to the contest.

  2. Visit at least one new Hiver tagged by somebody else in the comments. Read one of their current posts, upvote it, and make a meaningful comment. Come back here to the comment on my post that alerted you to them and pop in a link to the post that you visited. If there are no other comments when you enter, you may pick one of the previous contestants pages to visit - tagged at the end of this post.

  3. Finally, throw a dice or flip a coin if you don't have dice handy. No cheating lol as it would be nice to get a mix of views 😜

Even numbers (dice) or heads (coins), write something positive about Hive that you have experienced since you joined. Odd numbers (dice) or tails (coins), write about a not-so-positive experience on Hive that you have had. Your experience can be related to anything as long as it is something you have personally experienced or witnessed and should be constructive and not an attack on anyone in particular. Minimum 5 lines will suffice to qualify.

Anybody can enter the contest, regardless of how long you have been on the Hive. The contest closes when the voting period expires for this post in 7 days time.

You can earn extra entries into the draw by tagging/promoting additional new Hivers and by reblogging this contest post for greater awareness. If you reblog, please comment on this post that you have done so to ensure that I pick your name up for the draw.

All qualifying names will be entered into the draw to win the prizes on offer. I will use the random.org randomiser as in previous months.

EDIT: forgot to mention that I will upvote all entry comments using my full available VP at the time and will visit each of the tagged new Hivers pages too and read at least one of their recent articles and upvote it too.

Good luck!

Previous contestants:
@tdctunes @amcrypto @funshee @trekdung @beeber @myrv @agreste
@doziekash @dora381 @frost77 @ekotmordemy @trezzahn @eil7304 @alovely088 @mondhero @iskafan @abdul-qudus @chincoculbert @onwugbenuvictor

I would love to see some or all of the previous contestants taking part😍😜

I will get back to contests myself at some point, I just have alot going on at the momemt with new projects and their is a lot of work involved. Lol

I don't mind I like to keep productive, he he

I am finally in for the contest. I will tag @chidiadi1 and @karinakayleigh who are new to hive and also invite them to join the contest.

For @chidiadi1, I think he has passion for sports as mist of his posts are basically in that area. I read all of them whenever he writes and also engage as well. Additionally, I also show him some love (upvote) after reading his posts. From what I have seen he has a preference for the LA Liga and his writings also reflects same.

For @karinakayleigh, I have been reading her posts as well and what I can say about her is that she likes to celebrate life, that is, the fact that she is alive in spite of the ups and downs in life. This she does in the community We Are Alive! I also do my best to engage her and also upvote so as to encourage her too.

With respect to the 2nd criteria for this contest, nobody has mentioned or tagged any new member prior to my comment to enable me also read and comment on their recent posts.

I have also reblogged this post as required.

Lastly, since I joined hive this August, I have been able to express myself in my writings as it gives me an opportunity and/or platform to do so. Again, I've been able to meet and make new friends on the blog. I have also been exposed to various life enriching contents from these friends and many more. Honestly, it is a good thing that I joined the Hive community. Long live the Hive.

Special thanks to the curator of this contest. Thanks.

Thank you @lovely088 for your entry. You have also given @chidiadi1 and @karinakayleigh an automatic entry to the contest. You were not obligated to reblog the post, but by doing so you have earned yourself an additional entry into the draw, as per the contest rules. There is one thing left for you to do and that is to visit another new member's page. You may either wait for another person to enter and tag a new member, and then complete this part of the contest, or you may visit one of the previous contestants that I have tagged in my contest post, read, upvote and comment on one of their posts and come back here and paste the link to the article that you visited. In doing so you will complete the contest entry requirement and end up with 4 entries into the draw 👏

Wow, that's lovely. Let me wait till tomorrow and see if there will be new comments in this section. Otherwise I'll switch to the previous contestants as tagged above and do the needful. Thanks once again

I have visited @chidiadi1 but unfortunately discovered that his posts are plagiarised. This means that he is copying the work of another and passing it off as his own and trying to claim credit for it in the form of Hive rewards. I have commented on his latest post and invited engagement on the issue.

It seems like all of your posts, except one, have been plagiarized. You certainly have run afoul of the platform. While some people have brought your actions to my attention, there was little I could do about it because it was outside of the POB community and the post was past its payout.

@alovely088 may see your writing as passionate for sports, but I see you put zero effort into them. There is no passion in your past actions other than to fool the community. Please do not repeat that pattern again here or anywhere else on Hive. You definitely slipped through the cracks on this one, but maybe not as far as I thought. You haven't written much content on your account. Maybe you're new to the platform.

Stop plagiarizing your content. If you need help and understanding then ask. Here are a couple of articles you need to read to make your time in the Hive community more enjoyable and profitable:

Thank you for inviting @lordemmy to the contest. I do hope he takes part. You have earned him him an automatic entry into the draw in any event. I visited his page and read a couple of his recent articles. I really enjoyed them. I love his stripped back heartfelt and honest approach in his writing. Please do complete the remaining elements of the contest ie: ensure you visit a new Hiver tagged by somebody else here in the comments, read and upvote one of their posts and make a meaningful comment on it, come back here and add the link to the article you read. Then throw the dice and write either about a positive or negative experience on Hive that you have had.

https://peakd.com/iamalive/@karinakayleigh/i-am-alive-day-4

Visited @karinakayleigh post, duo her recent post is that of the am alive challenge, but still I upvote that too.

Sincerely I will be honest, when it comes to hive ,have been on the two side of it,both positive and negative.

The negative part.

When I newly joined the community,I didn't really know much about it rules if I may use that word,so I got myself involved in plagiarism as it is called and got punished for it, which sincerely break me down, cause it was nit intentional.

But the good part

After making that plagiarism mistake in which I learnt alot from, the platform as indeed be of help to my life in all area's,aside that it has increased my knowledge and Even contribute to my writing skills now.

Lot more that words alone can't even express mate

Just a heads up, by meaningful we mean that you have engaged with the author beyond merely saying that you liked their post. You need to discuss their post with them, ask them a meaningful question about their post, start a conversation essentially :-) Could you revisit your comment on her post and see if you could bring it in line with the contest requirement, please? We are trying to guide an improvement in engagement on the platform😊🙏

You still need to visit another author recommended by someone else in the comments, upvote their posts nd comment on it and copy a link to their post back on your comment here. Then throw the dice and depending on whether it is even or odd (or toss a coin), write about a positive or negative experience on the Hive since you arrived here :-)

Hello friends I have rested well from my long journey and here is my entry comment into the contest;

I'm tagging @whiteangey to participate in this contest, she is a brand new on the hive and I'm impress with her level of engagement in this comnunity.

I as well like reading her post, she has a cool way of communicating her massage through her contents.

Feel free to engage with her, and you will be glad to know her.

To another brand new havian @popmanj , even thought he has not started making post, which I admonish him to start doing as soon as he can.

I like his ways of dropping thoughful comments on his fellow Author's post. Keep it up, and I will be looking forward to reading your contents.

For the last part of this contest,

I just trow a coin and sadly🙈 a tail came up, I could have love to write so much about my positive experience at the hive.

The only negative thing I could think of since I join this great platform was when the proof of brain frond end was having issues and with the great work of POB core team it was resolved within few days.

Hi! I love your contests, @samsmith1971.

  1. I'm going to mention a very new user, she has less than a month on Hive: @isabelsantos. Her first post on the platform was a wonderful story, called Silé, which I recommend you to read (unfortunately it is only in Spanish). Her following publications (all literary texts of her authorship) continued to maintain the same level of quality, including tribute texts to the Argentine writer Abelardo Castillo and the American science fiction writer Robert Sheckley. Hopefully she will feel comfortable on the platform and we can continue to enjoy her stories. Also, of course, you are invited to participate in this contest.
  2. I've been reading @funshee's posts and found them very interesting, because she addresses some of the issues that I too, as a new user, wonder about, such as whether I should stack the tokens I receive. I left a comment on this post:
    https://www.proofofbrain.io/proofofbrain/@funshee/pob-development-oror-i-will-continue-to-stake-and-i-think-you-should-too
  3. This time it was my turn to say something positive about Hive. One of the things I like most about the platform is that it has very high quality standards. I tried other platforms that work with cryptocurrencies and the truth is that it is very clear that people are there just to make money. There are publications of very low quality, that only chase votes, or that are full of referrals to sites that make very dubious promises. On Hive, on the other hand, you can generally see the passion with which the users write. I have heard several times (not here) that ultimately people are in this type of networks only for the money. I don't think that is true, at least not in all cases, and that is evident in Hive. In my case, I'm not in Hive for the money, but because it allows me to do what I like (write poetry) without feeling the guilt of writing verses instead of doing "something productive". I need money to live on (not much either, but some), but the real reason I'm here is because it allows me to write poetry. I love Hive for allowing me to do that, and in return I try to strive to create the best content possible.
    I reblogged this post.
It's translated with Deepl, because my English is not good enough to write such a long comment.
    Greetings to all!

Wow, @agreste, you have certainly found a gem in @isabelsantos. I loved her short story 'Sile'. So creative and out the box sci-fi thinking. Thank you for bringing her to my attention. I have engaged with her and followed her.

Well. First
@iskafan, I must say her growth has been really commendable. She's been way too consistent a hard working with her posts here on the Hive. Looks like she came all prepared to take the hive by storm and she's really doing that. Go check her out.

@chosenfingers, I clearly don't know why but I admire this young engineer a lot. He's not been here too long but when I read his introduction post I knew this multiexperienced guru has a lot to offer the hive.

Well, I didn't have a coin to toss and there was certainly to dice to toss, so I just picked a leaf, and tossed it. It turned tails so I'll have to talk about my worst experiences on the hive.

I looked through my phone one morning and I was disgusted by the level of growth I had attained in the Hive compared to what I had expected to reach. It really killed my moral, I noticed I hadn't been putting too much work into the Hive and it showed . My posts hardly had any upvotes and the engagement rate was low.
Another worse experience didn't happen on the Hive in general but it was on the proof of brain front end. I got really frustrated when the front end went down a few weeks ago. I had gotten too used to that platform that it wasn't easy navigating through other ends. But I'm glad it happened though, it made me explore.

Apart from that, my experience on the Hive has been pretty good.

Thanks for your wonderful initiative@samsmith1971, God bless you. Sorry my entry is coming late.
