I HAD TO SAY GOODBYE
In life there is just one thing that I just can't afford and that is me quitting but then I have been in a situation when I just have to quit and that was when I was privileged to find a job that I've always loved to do. It happened two years after I finished my secondary school, I couldn't gain admission to study at the university of my choice because there was a strike at that time. Well, I did not really look for a job though because I don't like working for people, I just used my hand work to earn a little something for myself.
But then I was informed by a sister that there was a job vacancy for a cleaner in a duplex and at that point I knew this was my opportunity to do what I always enjoyed doing without people telling me that I work too much. Luckily for me I was able to acquire the job and I started working the following day. My employer was impressed at how well I did the job and I did enjoyed so much privileges working there.
I worked in that duplex for three weeks and three days in each week. At the end of the three weeks, I was able to clean every part of the house and made if look more presentable. We had an agreement that I was going to work there for one month and I will be paid approximately $12. At the end of the third week, we were already planning on relocating to a new environment and I had to tell my employer but I didn't know how to because he was asking me to even start staying at the house instead of me going home and coming back.
His marriage was coming up the previous week and that was the main reason he wanted me to stay so I could assist them in the preparations for his traditional marriage. He asked me to inform my dad about it and I agreed. When I got home that day, I was feeling a bit troubled on how I was going to settle everything because I know my dad will never agree to me staying there because he was not in support of me working as a cleaner from the start.
After much thinking, I picked up my phone and gave my employer a call and told him that my dad didn't agree to the plan because we will be relocating and I also won't be able to continue working there also. My employer was quiet for some time before he said no problem. When the call ended I made a very deep sigh in relief. I was happy I was able to quit the job without getting on the bad note of my employer but then it did cost me something.
Well I didn't mind though but that was a cost anyway. I didn't ask for my salary from him, I just kept it on the low, if he wants to he can but if he does not want to, it's also okay and in the end he did not give me a compensation for what I did. Like I said, I was still satisfied by how everything played out because working at that house gave me an experience on the difference between cleaning for someone and doing it at home.
I always believe that there are some things that are worth more than money and one of them is connection. I will always choose connection over money, of course connection won't put a food on my table all the time but then I'm ready to go hungry for those days, I don't mind at all. I quit because I had to but I was not happy I did but I'm glad my quitting only had more effect on the money and not on the relationship I've built.

Yes, dad was actually not even aware at first that I was working as a cleaner then, I had to start first before telling him, I only told my brother and sister. Then I was just focused on getting the experience of working as a cleaner and I'm so happy I got it.
I'm sure if I had stayed till the end of the month as promised, I would have gotten a recommendation from him to other of his friends who needs a cleaner and I would have also gotten a higher pay than what we bargained. But then I had to quit and it cost me those things but then I'm fine.

Yes, I was super happy about that because we had an agreement and I bridged it, lolz, English 😏.
No he did not and that was because I did not disturb him, I don't want to, it's not as if the money is big so I do not mind at all.

So many things have come and gone. It is not all the money we make in this world that we will eat. I love the way you handled it. This is what I call self respect.
You are absolutely right Ma'am, money is something that I can always earn but that relationship and trust is something that is very hard to get. I'm sure if for any reason I need to work as a cleaner and I go to apply there, I'm sure he won't mind accepting me back.
That man can leave only me in his house and go to work and return back even though I was not leaving there and he does not even know where I live. Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't mind the money I lost at all because they treated me like family there.
I told people that trust is the key in a any business. In relationship, in everything.

That's absolutely wrong of your employer to let you go without paying you for the job you had done. You spent 3 weeks out of four, and you finished the job in fact.
That was callous of him, as a matter of fact. I am even raged sef.
And he just let you go, without paying anything? Which one was nau "No problem?"
I don't know why I am raging. I guess it's because I just feel offended.
Well, the truth is he is always that kind of a I don't care kind of person and if you don't remind him of things he can easily forget about it.
The fault is more from me and I just can't blame him because if I want the salary I can easily call him and remind him but then I just don't want to.
As a matter of fact, he called me after like four months and told me that why didn't I ask him for the money I worked for, then he said I should Send my account info to him but then he didn't send anything and it was then I know he is a really good forgeter and I don't even have the mind of taking the money before.
But for the fact that he called, that means he really appreciated my effort in his house and that is enough for me.
Please don't be raged, I'm fine, I don't feel cheated at all, I know I've gained something that was more than what he would pay so I don't care.

The man could have given you the money which you have worked for in his house but just as you have said, you weren´t after the money but connection. One thing I notice in me is how I help people without expecting anything but with Joy, I feel satisfied helping such a person because I have just succeeded in gaining a connection to myself.
At least you quit without getting him angry or sad and that was the best way to act which you did. I believe if there is any available opportunity again, he wouldn´t hesitate to beckon on you because you did your service well.
Yes he should have paid me for the little that I worked but the way I left was not really okay. I already knew that I won't be able to come to work at his house again but I was not sure how to tell him and that was why I got home first before telling him.
Yes while I was working there x I didn't really take it as if I was working to get paid, I was just determined to do my best and I it like it was my own house and that was why I didn't take the money seriously.
I did wrong for quitting on the phone, instead of going to him to tell him. Everything ended well and that is what matters.

Yes Fave, I do derive joy from doing that and it was for the best reasons me quitting my work there.
