NEVER EVER SAY ANYTHING IS EASY UNTIL YOU'VE TRIED IT || 4 LIFE LESSONS

I learnt a lesson yesterday which I would love to share with you all. One thing about we humans is that we tend to underestimate situation of things and thereby assume it is easy before even making a try. Yeah, I know it is great to be optimist and not always give that bad vibes at things but best not make conclusions without having an idea of the difficulty of things.

There are different lessons to grab from this statement, which the first is: Do not assume, just do it: This got me yesterday when I saw a coding challenge that looked so beginner and easy to do right away that I almost skipped through it until a feeling said I should give it a try since at all it looks so simple to be done.

I didn't have my system with me so i decided to code with my phone. While doing it, I noticed an hour had gone and I was not done yet, two hours went by, then 3 hours, then 4 hours still on what I assumed to be simple until I tried it out.

I finished it after the 12th hour, because I had to take some break and I was already burned out. Even with my finishing, it is not even yet 100% accurate and I called it simple at first site. No wonder they say this statement:

Don't judge a book by it's cover

I simply did that, I judged it by mere looking at it. Another lesson on can learn from it is: Don't be quick to judge others until you are in the same situation with them: There is one thing about we humans, we are quick to judge even though we may have never experienced such a situation before. We tend no to place ourselves in the situation of others and be quick to make assumptions. That is why taking a break to put yourself in the same situation is necessary before laying decisions.

Just like I almost failed to try a challenge, the lesson here is: Always try challenges when you see them, they yield growth. One thing about challenges is life is that there is always a lesson to learn from them. You only need a listening hear, curious mindset, and an attentive hear to find those lessons. Then you would see how much you have learned or grown in the period of the challenge.

I talked about listening hear and attentive mindset in the last paragraph; it doesn't just help us to find life lessons but it also help us not to be quick to making assumptions. It help us listen to the challenges of others, how they may be in need, know the source of their challenge and how they can be assisted. This way, we would not be too quick to blame others.

Thanks for reading to this point, I really appreciate. I would love to know what lessons you learned from this post? Have you ever underestimated something and turns not to be how you thought it to be? Have you ever been quick to make assumptions and later found you were wrong? I would appreciate your comment to these questions by curating each and every one of them

Yeah, you are right. One should not under estimate any situation no matter how simple it looks. Just try first then draw your conclusion.

Thanks for sharing with us.

Yes that's so true, if we've tried something before drawing conclusions then we will be free from assumptions and quick to conclude acts.

Yeah, I know it is great to be optimist...

Hmm

But I wouldn't say assumption is being optimistic, rather, it is being irrational and hasty.

Optimism would be "I'll not be intimidated by any challenge that will come my way. Instead, I'll try to persevere and see if through to the end."

But I do get your point.

Just try first then draw your conclusion.

Exactly!

Wow...insightful content as usual 👍

I would love to know what lessons you learned from this post?

I learned to have a good listening ear, hmmm this alone got me🤦 , and not to make a quick assumption over any issue but rather be more attentive and calm to understand a situation before reaching a conclusion or may be assist if need be instead of blaming others.

Have you ever underestimated something and turns not to be how you thought it to be?

Yes, I have...lol
Before I started learning to tailor a few months back now, I assumed it to be easy peasy work. Looking at the way the tailors match the machine and come out with a beautiful design so quickly, I concluded it's so easy until I started trying it myself now. I almost gave up two weeks ago🤦🤩, but the tiny voice in me kept saying "you can do this"

Have you ever been quick to make assumptions and later found you were wrong?

Hmmm, before I got married ...I assumed that my big sister don't care about me so often the way it should be, she tried explaining to me that motherhood duties are large and I shouldn't expect everything to be the same but no, I kept getting her wrong until now that I am being faced with the reality 🤦. I have learned not to make a quick assumption ...I was wrong then.

As in ehn, that point, listening to what others have to say. It happens most times between parents and their children.

If a child tries explaining something to their elders, they most times get a reply like, shut your mouth, what do you know?😏, if I'm in such position, next time it will be hard for me to say anything because I don't want to get shut 😢.

It's true oo, when I was assisting my aunt in her shop then, I felt tailoring was easy but it really wasn't.

This is so true. Because you'd end up hitting a wall for being impatient and irrational.

Better decisions are made with adequate time and reasoning invested into thinking.

I concluded it's so easy until I started trying it myself now.

And then you were humbled😂

I kept getting her wrong until now that I am being faced with the reality

We often underestimate people and things because that's easy to do. Especially as adults we often do underestimate our younger ones or someone below us but in the end we might feel sorry for doing so.

what lessons you learned from this post?

  • I learned that it's unwise to assume things, first try to get a taste of it before jumping into conclusions.

  • I also learned that the best way to not fall victim of assumptions is to listen very carefully and and also be a good observer, no wonder James said be quick to hear and slow to speak.

Have you ever underestimated something and turns not to be how you thought it to be?

Yes, I once underestimated myself that I was not a writer and that I don't like reading but now all that has changed and I can see now that I underestimated myself. I have underestimated others but I can't remember because I always try to fix that immediately I find out I'm doing that.

Have you ever been quick to make assumptions and later found you were wrong?

Yes I have. I remember once when I was sent on an errand, on getting to the place, I found out that what I was looking for was not available so I bought something else in place of the initial item I was sent. I assumed it was still okay but on getting home I was asked to go back to return it and place was far 😭.

Ever since then, I always try to do things the exact way I'm told, except I'm asked to be dynamic.

I'm always happy when I see a blog from you because I know I have something if not new, to learn.

Gracias 🥰.

This is my table too.

We really can never attain our full potentials if we underestimate ourselves. One just has to try.

I assumed it was still okay but on getting home I was asked to go back to return it and place was far 😭.

Haha..
Mine was that I trusted a product should work fine, but it didn't when I unwrapped it at home. I went back, but took a week and a fight to get a different one.

Since then, I no dey assume again.

I'm always happy when I see a blog from you because I know I have something if not new, to learn.

The baba is an inspiration everytime.

Exactly, the major thing we humans do best is assumption which is not good...

Thanks for sharing, it's indeed a lesson we should learn from..

I can imagine the look after the first try. 😁

More like "omooo..."😂

Making an assumption the basis for a total conclusion is the best way to fail before even trying.

Like you have said, it is only one that has first-hand experience that can truly give an accurate opinion.

Although "difficulty" is subjective, it really cannot be determined without first trying out.

Underestimation can hasten a man's fall. Because the "it's easy" mentality leads to complacency and mediocre performance.

I use to tell my friends in school most times, when we are writing exam,i will say never assume you know anything, study everything including the basic, they will say you done come, guy leave that stuff and study the advance and serious stuff,at the end they will be so surprised how the basic becomes a mountain they can't move, we neglect the basic and focus more on advance stuff put all our time and energy to it, which is good, but take for granted the basic things, but truth be told after all, try that which is basic and see how frustrated you become, that why i always say ASSUMPTIONS IS THE MOTHER OF FRUSTRATION.
