Work - Life Balance Struggle | IAAC 195th

Midweek ramble as I struggle finding work - life balance. So being home-based is not exactly totally fun if you're not working for yourself. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

Geez, I didn't realize how noisy it is around me until I watch the videos I record and hear all those unwanted noise. Ugh! πŸ™„πŸ™„ I live in a commercial district so it's truly busy during the day. There are down times but it could never be truly quiet.

Now, more than ever, I realize the importance of finding the balance for a more harmonious, stress-free & worry-free life. It's definitely not as easy as one may think. I will be working on it though.

Another thing I need to work on is my daily walking exercise. I must admit to losing a lot of steps since I became home-based. Oh boy! 🚢🏻🚢🏻🚢🏻 will need to train myself to keep moving around.

Now you see how it is to work from home... All the struggles, all that food in the fridge, and that comfy computer chair... hehehe

Just joking, but it is almost like that... I was trapped for a couple of days into my computer chair... Moving very little, doing ZERO excercising... Luckily, I started with my daily walks, thanks to Actifit... and the last couple of months with the gym... It helps a lot!

Wow! At least the gym is open where you are. I don't think they have reopened here. Poor folks who work there though. Well, Actifit doesn't work for me. Good thing my mobile has its own stalker app that tracks my steps. Now all I need to remember is to bring it whenever I go for walks. LOL! Oh and another thing, I don't have a comfy computer chair. Whew! That kinda makes me get up and walk around the flat (which is very small either way). So I could always head over to my container garden :D

I struggle with the distraction too. I do need to draw up a plan in order to make better use of my time. :D Happy midweek!

Well, Actifit doesn't work for me.

Wait... You have the same mobile as me, aren't you? Xiaomi Redmi? I recognized the sounds, but maybe it's not the same model (I have 8)... and Actifit didn't work very well, and it still blocks sometimes, but in general, is managable... I just had to turn ON aggresive mode inside the app... without that, it didn't work...

Well I have Vivo. It's one of the creepy android phones that links directly to google esp when I log into gmail LOL. I have tried Actifit but it didn't stay on for me either. Then I discovered that my mobile already has some steps tracking app built in LOL :p

Lol, I have done enough exercise to share some, lol, loaded truck unloaded truck, in between doing 10 steps on stair master carrying 30 kg boxes for 500 of them, driving 12 hours,
and as of next week I need to look for a day job as I was one of those that lost a job due to COVID economics

Working from home is always good

30kg boxes up the stairs?!?! Whoa! I carry less than that and felt like I couldn't do more LOL! Working from home is a good option. I just need more discipline and a tighter action plan to achieve more LOL! I also discovered that my pets are now demanding attention from me, now that they see me more. How could I resist huh? :)

thank you for the support! :)

Oh boy do I know the struggle of the work & life balance lol....I think many of us do.

The weird thing is when I had a hotel job to go to, I couldn't seem to get my schedule for online things together very well...I always felt like I wasn't getting enough done in the time I had. Now that I am working from home, I still have some days like that & other days, there is TOO much time.... lol.

I think what is helping me a little is batching tasks, etc in a set amount of time (or best as I can anyways). I tend to get more done & don't feel as stressed later on. The struggle for me is shutting off the computer at night & STOP working before I go to bed....it's important to have down time before sleeping but I don't always do that lol.

I think it's a trial & error thing, trying different routines & things that work for you. Scheduling things really helps, esp with chores etc. So that way you're focused on those things only in that time frame. Once you do this for awhile, it retrains your brain & it will become easier to stick with. :)

Have an awesome Wednesday, Sis, and sending #pixiedust, love & hugs to you, Mowme & babies :) πŸ’š

Very nice! I love your suggestions :) I'll work on it esp the batching of tasks. Perhaps draft a schedule as well like which ones to work on which days :) that way I won't feel like I'm rushing anything at all.

oohh days with TOO much time.. I'd love one of those LOL! Wish I could order that somewhere haha :D but one good thing lately is that I get to set aside some down time after work (mini nap or the like for health maintenance). It's working so far, so I'd like to keep that.

my last tasks for the night would usually be my SL battles. LOL! Then I head straight to bed. zzzzz

thanks for the extra #pixiedust :) happy midweek to you! hugs and kisses to you and Timmy :) talk soon...

Hello dear friend @iamraincrystal good day
There are some editors like filmora that allow you to remove background noise from your videos, maybe you should see if yours has that function
Yes, the walk is very important not only for the body, it is also for the mind
stay safe and take care dear friend

The daily struggle we all have. I thought it would be easier since working from home, but even that has it's challenges. Because I'm at home all the time, there is no clear separation of work time and home time, compared to before when office time was work time, and home time was home time.

Try doing some home bodyweight exercises for 15min each day to replace the lost steps.

Yes big cities are always noisy, and even phones too apparently lol, finding a somewhat quiet place is a daily struggle for me to make my videos even though I have found some places with less noise, plus wind is also a problem.

As to work life balance the only way that I can maintain anything even close to that is with Actifit, the days when I skip my daily walks I am more stressed and I am also less productive, so whenever I do slack on that part due to too much to do I really am shooting myself in the foot lol, so that is an advice I can give, don't skip your daily Actifit walk, you will come back refreshed and get more done in less time after it, stay safe, awesome and alive.
