Money Talk Friday: Emergency Funds | IAAC 197th

Yipee, it's FriYay! πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜†πŸ™ƒ almost my weekend again. Down to one more work day. WooHoo! So, how does it feel like being home-based? πŸ€”πŸ€” well, it has its perks. Work wise, it's the same load. Harhar.

Money talk Friday topic: emergency funds. I'm fortunate to have learned about this a few years back, even before this plandemic happened. Let's just say, I've been striving to save up for like three to six months of back up funds. I'm not quite there yet. Then, the lockdowns happened. πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘ such is life.. It goes on.

Now, I'm striving to get right back on track once again. It's a bit tougher, but I believe it can be done. πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ’ͺ🏼 it certainly takes a lot of will power when you're trying to save. Temptations abound. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ once again, it's important to at least have a plan.

'Twas a busy work day for me. More so on my end, as I do a lot of printing. All in a day's work. Just glad income continues, as it does take a load off my worries. After all, work pays the bills. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

Time for a bit of relaxation, before I shift to my online activities. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸΌ I'll see you for my weekender video tomorrow! Ta-tah!

I agree - we need to "pay" ourselves first before paying bills, food, etc. It doesn't have to be a ton but just a little each paycheck.... I am in the habit of this, even with the lower income at the moment.... :)

I was fortunate enough to be able to live frugally and save up for a small emergency fund. It really does provide peace of mind & I won't touch it unless it's a TRUE emergency. I even have a small savings where I keep money for bills so I continually add to that as well.... little by little, but as you're seeing, it adds up :)

I love Rachel Cruz and Dave Ramsey - have you read the Total Money Makeover book? If not, that will help you a lot. It really has helped me & you might have seen me talk about that in one of my past videos. It is definitely worth the read. I don't follow the plan 100% religiously but I tailored it to how it works for me...

So funny, as I was typing, I heard you say my name hahah, :) As far as Timmy goes, he actually does not like wet food at ALL. He will eat tuna, though, but he refuses to eat wet food. Dry food he loves - I get the Meow Mix brand right now. I will alternate in flavors sometimes but I try to stick with the same brand. I have heard switching brands too often can mess with their tummies so sometimes it's a matter of being firm about it. Not always easy but Timmy knows now that is the food he is getting. He will get plenty of water and tuna when he wants, too. So he's pretty simple. Some cats are just downright finicky. It could be switching the flavor might help. If they are partial to fish or chicken, etc, try those flavors and see. :)

Wow holy long comment. LOL. Sorry about that but you are so easy to talk to hehe. πŸ˜‚
Anyways, I hope you have an amazing weekend. I am determined to be off on Saturday this week so I will comment on your awesome posts when I return Sun afternoon. I hope you get things done & have FUN, too! Love ya to the moon & back, Sis. Sending loves, hugs & kisses to you and your fam! :) πŸ’š

Oh btw...about getting married at this time, I think that it's a good thing. We all need to LIVE our lives regardless of what is going on in the world, plandemic or not. Anything that allows us to enjoy and see the good in life is a plus. It should be celebrated. Life isn't all bad. We are in an illusion right now & things are just cracking open. If we only focus on the bad, it defeats the purpose of finding the good. ;) Just my 2 cents. πŸ™ πŸ’—

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I truly value that. It's just me, myself, and I not seeing past this bleak situation. From where I am, I honestly don't see much improvements in the coming months. If there would be, there should have been already. But that's just the realist in me.

I love your long comments. They're just like long convos hehe. I kinda took your advice and signed off earlier last night. I can catch up later hehe. I just felt like taking an early break. It does help. I hope you enjoy your break too!

Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll check that out. I do enjoy reading and applying these financial budget tips. :)

Meow Mix -- I think I've seen that brand around here too. Will take note definitely. You're lucky that Timmy is not a picky eater. Mowe does not seem to like Tuna. Boohoo. She's the hardest one to feed. The others are not too difficult as long as you give them something. LOL! I do change brands often, so perhaps will need to cut down on that.

Talk soon! Have a fantabulous weekend! :) Hugs & kisses to you & Timmy :)

An emergency fund is quite literally a life saver! I started doing that a few years ago where I just decide an amount and treat that amount as zero. But besides being a backup, it is also a good indicator of what you are allowed to spend and invest, because if I didn't have that indicator I might go overboard and save too much without that money ever doing anything for me.

With my goal of retiring early, or not working full time all the time, an emergency fund can eventually also serve that purpose if never needed.

Have a good relaxing weekend!

Thank you. Enjoy your weekend too! :)
Not working full time all the time sounds fantastic :) That's why early on, I've trained my daughter to start building her nest egg. I'm a work in progress, although retirement is not really something that I plan to do. As long as I can, I will. That's kinda like my mantra atm. LOL!

Good stuff. Teach them young. I'm probably not going to retire early either, but it would be nice to know that I'm working because I want to and not because I have to.

how are you dear friend @iamraincrystal good afternoon
It is always good to have an extra fund for possible jumps, without a doubt working from home has its advantages.
There is no greater satisfaction in doing something and receiving compensation in return
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid weekend

As others agreed in the comments, emergency funds are a must! And, it is still not too late to start forming it and keep adding to it as much possible...

Unfortunately, there will be a time when we will have to use those funds...

Thanks for talking about it as it's a very important topic!

Happy Friday Rosyel, and really great advice about an emergency fund, I need to work more on that myself actually, maybe putting HBD in Savings is the way to go and actually succeed with it lol, and don't let your cats eat you out of the house, have an awesome weekend and stay safe, awesome and alive.
