How the artist name Kenny B was born

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

So, I decided to go live on Facebook and YouTube tonight (looking to also create content for my IAAC), but the quality of the video wasn't as good as I wanted it to. The audio was solid, topic itself was interesting, but the video was lagging and in my eyes not fully worthy to celebrate my Day 100 for the I Am Alive Challenge. So I dug into my vault, and found this gem.

Kenny B is famous singer from Surinamese origin. His hit song 'Parijs' (Paris) was the most watched video on YouTube in the Netherlands in 2015. The music video of Parijs now has close to 40 Mln views on YouTube.

A year before the single was released, I had the opportunity to interview Kenny B as my first guest of my music podcast.

This is a short segment of the interview, where he talks about the origin of artist name Kenny B. Feel free to let me know whether or not is should reupload the full podcast which is about 20 minutes. The podcast was recorded in 2014 but has been offline since 2018, and has never been posted on Hive.

This video is part of my extended participation in the I Am Alive Challenge, with the goal to upload 300 videos on 3 Speak in 2021.

I watched the video in YouTube. Their on-camera chemistry is good :) It was going to be a sad ending except the last moment smiling :)

Ah.. you watched the video.
Yes, the chemistry is great.
Was it weird listening to a Dutch song?

Thanks @jlufer,
I guess I will have to consider putting up the whole podcast. It also includes some of his earlier music.
Be safe and have a great weekend!

Nice share :) Interesting when listening to Kenny B. His accent sounds like someone from Western Africa. I'm from NL, but not really heard of this guy. That said, I'm 100% out of touch with the music that is (kinda) popular in my tiny country, so it's not surprising to me I don't know this guy :)

Hi @edje,
We have a lot of West African heritage in Suriname, I guess thanks to the Dutch.

I think you might like this, maybe if you hear it, it might sound familiar:

He used to sing in English and Surinamese, but most of his songs are in Dutch now. He currently lives in Tilburg, which is funny since I studied in Tilburg myself, but somehow we always meet each other in Suriname and never in the Netherlands.

Yea I know of cause the history and the Dutch had a big part in this indeed :)

Thanks for the music share. I have to say: Sorry, even this one I don't know, but its not starnge since I'm really 100% out of touch with what music is goign around radio, tv, and the population 🙃 Must say, sounds interesting for sure! Funnily enough, I usually dont listen to lyrics, but this guy is singing "praat nederlands met mij" while in Paris...Funny! 🤣

Tilburg

Really? The world is pretty strange indeed; Strange in the good sense in this case 🙃
