Being Politically Correct is Incorrect 😢 IAAC #37

I Am Alive! πŸ‘Š

Words have power, or so they say. But that's not totally right. We give words their power. On the receiver side of things, a term is as insulting, racist or degrading as we perceive it to be. One the sender side the tone and intention matter. I can call someone a cupcake in the sweetest way possible, because I like that person. But add a sarcastic tone or 2 and a disgusted grimace and it's suddenly received as an insult.

This is why being politically correct is not the right approach to solve problems of prejudice. It usually also has communications lost in translation and complexity. Instead we should focus on intent and level of awareness. Also, I don't like anything that is derived from the word politics. :)

As I look into my hot chocolate, I ask you this:
Where do you draw the line on political correctness?

Now for an appropriate daily funny image to balance out all the drama.

Even I get insulted by certain things, but I think most of it is all about a state of mind. Unfortunately none of us are as enlightened as the Dalai Lama. πŸ˜‚

Why is "YOU" insulting though?

I went Too deep on that. Real life only have one person that talks to me in person. What is followed after You. I can't go any further. But it doesn't happen as much

I'm only accepting the award if I get to drop a few fucks and some dark humor in my speech.

This is so true. I am not much for political correctness either, considering imho some people just look to get offended; offended to be offended :)

But it is very interesting how we can change the whole meaning of something with just our tone, body language or intent...we have a lot more power than we realize even in these subtle things.

For me, I prefer to be truthful in what I say but find a balance in between not sugar coating things but also be mindful in my approach & way of delivering a message....

This was an interesting post. Thanks for sharing with us! :) πŸ’š

Thank you for your valuable input. :)

I get what you mean. The delivery of truth plays an important role in a situation. If you do things out of order, things you say might be interpreted in a totally different way than what it was meant to be. I make that mistake sometimes, thinking that the person I am talking to is in my head and therefore knows exactly what I mean, when I may have skipped over a few crucial details.

Yes, I have been guilty of this myself a few times lol. When I become passionate about what I am trying to get across, it sometimes comes off as angry or too blunt & that is NOT how I mean it.

But as you said, we learn & start putting things in order. Sometimes, it's by trial & error. Just hopefully we are around loved ones that will have mercy on us ha ha. :)

Lol yes, I treasure those unfortunate loved ones that understand me. πŸ˜„
And as a general rule of thumb, if I meet new people and we don't vibe or they don't get my humor/sarcasm, it just wasn't meant to be, and I move on.

Yes and the perfect example of that I think is the Aussie term 'mate' and 'maaate'

One of those is about friendship and the other is a warning.

And in fact we are pretty much the only culture in the world that calls our enemies maate and our besties the CUNextTues word...

And I'd love a cupcake too thanks cupcake! πŸ˜‚

And as I laugh at the cartoon, I think like- I don't give an obese rodents rectum at society's OTT PC he said/she said either.

I like to call a spade a spade- but with a trickle of honey on it, as you sweeten those prospective offendees/future enemies...

Great post. Very intuitive and though provoking of you...😁

Lol, some tribes communicate in grunts and clicks and even then the tones are different with different meanings.

Honesty is the best policy. The Australian guy I met in Germany a few years ago also just said it like it is and was upright and honest. Maybe it's a regional thing.

Thanks for reading the post. :)

Hey most guys these days- especially here, just communicate in grunts and groans...πŸ™„

Yeah it's funny that we do cause as you know, we come from the Brits, who can be pretty buttoned down and aren't that forthcoming with honesty, but then on the other hand, half of those Brits that we come from are the Cockneys who usually do tell it like it is.....
