I Am Alive! 🌱

Am I the only who is seriously over this whole Corona fiasco? It's been 7 months now of being semi-isolated from friends and family and fully isolated from the rest of the world. For some of you that period has been even longer, ever since January. With my would-be travel vacation date coming up, it's getting even more annoying. But somehow I am alive.

Let's look at the bright side for a bit. The first few months have been fun in terms of working from home and all. And it seems working for home is not as absurd and chaotic as some thought it would be. Along with most of my colleagues, I have been very productive, if not more productive. But the lack of social interaction is killing. I think it is a part humanity that we cannot be without interacting with each other. Hive has filled this gap quite a bit for me though and I am thankful for that. Whoever is reading this through Hive. You rock!

Now for an appropriate daily funny image to balance out all the drama.

Locking people in the house is a crime

Agreed. Freedom is a universal right, and obstructing it is a crime. That being said, one should be aware of the risks involved with living that freedom. The majority forcing its will on the total population is the problem with democracy.

I currently semi-isolate by choice, picking and choosing events, based on my own risk assessment. Could've been worse, like some other countries.

Totally agree with @nathanmars... Locking people in home-prison without reason is a crime... And I really hope that more people will realize that, and that some people will pay the price for their actions against the humanity... As this is exactly that...

Apparently they do have a reason, but then when a government official gets it, he's cleared in about 2-3 days, completely going against those "reasons". Very convenient.

Yeah our freedom must have been what those aliens took away, it has to be the green men since viruses are green right?

Jokes aside, what is even worse than these lockdowns is the going back and forth with restrictions, it's less acceptable the second time, and feels way more restrictive, that being said here in Sweden we never had a full lockdown like most other countries, and even though we can see a slight increase the last weeks, it's completely marginal compared to what we had in the spring and early summer, which is why some restrictions are lifted while some problem areas get more restricted, let's just hope it will all be over soon though.

Most governments have been very inadequate in the consistency of measurements and restrictions. Especially the corrupt ones. In some cases it's just because they have never met with something like this, but in some it's also that the people working in risk management are just not qualified for their job and never thought they would have to do it properly. That's the case here in Suriname, as we don't have natural disasters and the people who are working in that department have been placed there through nepotism and not by their own skill.

Funny enough restrictions are loosened as soon as the economy and big companies face potential losses.
I'll join you in hoping that it's all over soon.

Yeah most countries had broad aability to add restrictions, which is probably why we did not get them, since that was not added to our constitution, but instead the ability to add specific restrictions instead, only ones targeted towards lowering the spread while not doing a full lockdown, what does surprise me though is that they did not go against the constitution, there are other areas where they do not care about it.

They're all about rights and laws, until it doesn't profit them anymore. Laws only have power if everyone agrees they do. And even then they can only be upheld if law enforcement believes in them.

Yeah I think there was a profit motive involved too, the family with most influence in Sweden is called Wallenberg and they control more than half the economy here, they are even big in Europe too, I think you have heard of companies like Ericsson and ABB, plus they even got one of our biggest banks in their pocket, all owned though foundations and with a focus on stocks with high vote value.

Oh nice, you guys have your own Rothchilds. 🙃

But it doesn't surprise me. While we think government leaders have all the power, the puppet masters remain behind the screen. We have the same type of situation with influential families here backing all winning parties, even if they backed the rival in the last election.
