A wee walk in La Punta on a beach day

avatar

Hello Hivers!

Today my Wednesday Walk was on the beach. My son had told me he wanted to go to the beach for a day before going back to college. He leaves next Sunday. So this morning, we put some drinks in a cooler, packed a salad for a picnic and some fruit, and got in the car to spend the day at the beach. Something we haven't done for a long time, by the way.

Caracas is in a valley, but by crossing the mountains by highway, in less than an hour, you can reach the coast of the state of La Guaira. In there is among other things, one of the most important ports of the country and the airport that serves Caracas. There are also towns and many beaches along the coast.

Today we wanted to go to a place called Los Caracas, which is a bit further away, but we wanted to avoid the crowded beaches. So first place, we went to a beach called La Punta in Los Caracas.

This place has good memories for me because it was the beach I used to go to on weekends with my friends when I was young.

But as soon as we arrived we realized we couldn't stay there on the beach since there is almost none. The sea has gained ground, and now practically reaches the road. Before there was a narrow strip of beach that no longer exists.

However, before leaving for another beach, we decided to explore the area a bit. The water looked so blue and inviting.

This is a place where surfers tend to come now, and although today the waves were not so big, we saw a few of them in the sea.

We walked through an area that had vegetation.

And we spotted a small beach nearby.

People were bathing but we decided to not stay there and keep going. This beach was also reached by a kind of stream coming from the mountain.

So we decided to go back. We saw this place that was a restaurant at one time but seemed closed.

In Los Caracas, in the '50s a resort complex was developed and many of the buildings in the area are from that time but many are now in disuse.

And somewhat deteriorated like this one that seemed to be a surfboard warehouse because on one of its walls there were several painted.

We walk back to the beginning of La Punta.

We took some more pictures of the beach.

And we went back to the car to continue a little more on the road and look for another beach. I will tell you about it some other time. That's all for today.

We can swim here all year round 😄 It is not very cold at this time of the year, the temperatures get a bit lower and there is some wind but it is still a tropical climate.

The La Punta beach and area of Los Caracas look truly stunning and not like the beaches we have here in Europe. It looks like a great day out with your son. A bonus that there is not so crowded. I am living 600km away from the sea and really miss it.

Thanks for sharing.

The beaches here are very different from those over there. La Punta and Los Caracas are the typical beaches that are here in the areas close to the mountains, but they are small beaches; in other areas of the country, the beaches are more extensive. Then there are the beaches of the islands and cays that are beautiful.

I love the sea and I would love to one day live near the sea.
Thank you for the support 😊
Cheers!

What a beautiful beach! I wish I could have a place like this nearby. How many degrees is it there now? It seems like warm weather... In my place it will soon be snowing and the temperature will be below 0 so I would like to be on that beautiful beach... 😊🤗

The temperature at this time of the year on the coast is between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius and there is usually a little windy, but you can still swim in the sea although the water is a little cold at this time of the year.
One day, I would like to have a white Christmas with snow ;)

The beach looks relaxing. If that's how bluish the waters in the beach near my area, I would swim there often haha. I just noticed the name of the beach, "La Punta". We have that same word in our language, "Punta", which means "edge". Does it mean the same in your language? I'm just curious to know.

Punta means the end of something, the translation in English is the tip:)

Now this post is like a breath of fresh air Super Eli💙
I am so glad you got out to see the beach, well the sea at least.
It is strange how the sea can take back land at will really.
Yes it gave an excuse to keep looking for different beaches though.
I can feel the warmth.
Have a fantastic Friday and today I am playing catch up again but will get the Leo post out!

It was a day full of fresh air near the sea, then we went to a beach, and I will tell you about it in another post. I could even swim in the sea, although at this time of the year, the water is a bit cold.

I have to catch up today and do my Leo goals post. Yesterday I felt a bit sick with indigestion and spent the day resting, but today I feel fine, so it's time to catch up.

Have a super day, Super Ed! I hope you welcome the new year very well and that 2023 brings you many good things.
