Renato Massari - The Exploded (1995) [EN]-[IT]

[ENGLISH]
Renato Massari - The Exploded
Renato Massari is an Italian painter.
He was a full member of the World Union of Culture-Rome. Enrolled in the roll of the IPC of Rome, advisor of the Academy of Science Letters Arts of Milan.

The following is an author's critique of his painting:
"His colors are persuasive, given on the canvas as a caress, his figures are shaped with such intentionality as to immerse us in that poetic-fairy-tale world of his that is so wonderful and dreamlike." (Nino Scalisi 1978)

Data of the work
Title: The Exploded
Painted by: Renato Massari
Year of execution: 1995
Dimensions: 80 cm x 100 cm
Material: canvas
Type of painting: oil

Photo of the painting
This painting is definitely dramatic in character. The poetry sometimes seen in Renato Massari's paintings, in L'ESPLOSO, gives way to the total drama of war. At the top right we see a monument dedicated to a soldier after his death that occurred in the war, while on the right side is a kind of mask. In the artist's mind, the soldier's death was caused by an explosion, and the mask on the left represents his face and soul during and after the explosion. This is one of the rare paintings that the artist devotes to the theme of war and tries to portray all the drama that he himself feels.

Detail 1
In the center slightly shifted to the left is the mask, the most dramatic point of the painting.

Detail 2
At the top right we have the monument to the soldier, on which a bouquet of flowers has been laid. That very small bunch of flowers is the only spot in the painting that has vivid colors and not dark colors like the rest of the 'work.

Renato Massari - L'esploso
