This is a show I really wanted to like because it has a fantastic premise. It couldn't really live up to it though with it's fairly weak writing throughout. I don't remember all the details, but there were several times I found myself thinking that so many people in this show were just plain stupid in the actions they took. I remember the girl just being given those 'Anti-Incarnate' bullets despite the government having no clue as to her ability to even use them.
Not to mention how often their troops show up without any of that kind of gear, despite apparently having a squad armed to the teeth with them. (It's been a while, so my memory may be a bit off with all the details.)

You're not off from what the show is. It had a good start then falls down spiral to blatant bad writing. It had a lot of tropes that don't work. Even the comedy is forced, plot armors op, and at least they didn't made a harem protagonist.
None of the characters introduced subsequently added weight. They only implied some heavy backstory will happen on the next season which isn't worth waiting. :/
