ArtBees and a bit of WIP

Excuse me for the break in ranting spree but I'd like to plug in some ArtBees update while adding some progress shots of my WIP.

ArtBees TL:DR Community Intro:

A small art community on Hive focused on just being chill and supportive to artists composed of amateurs to professional level. Not an art curation community so if upvotes are what you're after, better to look somewhere else. There's no money here.

I consider ArtBees a good starter community for beginner to intermediate artists just starting their art journey on the platform. A common problem a new user faces is having zero visibility and an audience to connect to.

What commonly happens is they start out with big art communities competing amongst established names on the platform. Then get disappointed for bothering to post as it's like screaming to the abyss to be noticed.

For veteran users of the platform, you know content isn't the only thing that's factored in when you want to get some social rewards. Start with a small community then grow your network. I wish every beginner knows this to get a better user experience on the platform.

Anyway, the reason I'm bringing ArtBees up is a new initiative inspired from the drama I talked about on this post. I prefer organic growth through engagement because I firmly believe in:

If you can't give a fuck about the community, why should the community give a fuck about you?

We have a show and tell activity on discord that @ryivhnn suggested doing again. It's asking what members are up to lately as a means to socialize or learn something new from one another. I like to reward anyone that engages on the activity as part of the community building initiative.

A portion of the rewards from this post goes to the people that have been active at discord.

It's a bit hard to see anything in the drawing at the moment but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing as it does make people look harder. I don't know if you dropped an emboss filter on the last image or if it's just the stark contrast with the lighter lines but it looks like a stained glass piece there.

It's a platform agnostic problem, I've seen it on all the art sites I've ever been on (dA was the most obvious because it's still the biggest). But yes it would be great if more people realised early on that it's best to get in on a small community (even if you just slowly start building one around you which is sometimes harder than just jumping into an existing one) and engage heaps.

and I guess let's not talk about the ones who kind of realise it but won't do it for a variety of reasons up to and including spending the time engaging "wastes" precious creation time

If you want to be making posts should we pick a day or just keep it free flowing? :)

I think I was unconsciously doing a stained glass appearance when my hand were running on autopilot. The thinking process was just let my hand and eye do strokes here and there without putting it too much conscious thought to see where this goes. Like most of the end results I have done, I don't particularly like or dislike the work so far.

There's a lot of obstacles to overcome a habit of just playing the lottery game to get some fame. Most would just look at popular artists and say they got talent that's why they got famous. Nah, it's mostly a combination of public relations, luck to get curated by someone established in the industry, and consistent skill mastery.

Most would want to just want the fame without putting in the effort to be a content creator, it's always the case for every platform. One thing I learned and grateful to know is consistency matters and growth doesn't happen in a day.

If I started out now, I'd be earning peanuts for every post I make even with the current skill set I got (which ain't much).

If you want to be making posts should we pick a day or just keep it free flowing? :)

Any day is fine, I could just make a mental note about the chat and showcase that on a random posting time. I don't like to set that a routine as my work can be a pain to keep up.

We'll just keep it free flowing then so you can do what you want when you got time :)

Maybe the stained glass lines should be purple/red rather than white? It "pops" all over the place at the moment and I am not sure where my eye should be drawn to first. As I said before I do like the energy though. Heck what do I know xD

There really are no "easy" routes to fame. Creativity, Content and Consistency is the key if you want to prove any kind of longevity. Quality content and commitment, that's where its at if you really want to stand out in an online crowd. Constant dripping wears the stone as it were...if you keep your output steady, exposure is a natural side-effect (if that's what you are after).

It's important to realise that in a smaller group you are much more likely to "get your say" and actual attention by real people. It's also very helpful if that group happens to be kind and helpful :)

Makes sense, I was planning to add darker shades on it more. I'll try dark red.

It's not difficult to see which ones are just posting for rewards because once they reach a relatively substantial and consistent amount of rewards per post, the whining stops or they go low key just reduce their socializing.

The illusion is being appreciated for your content if the post rewards are high. The esteem tied to the digits can either make or break an artists imo. Sure one can get some good pay for bothering but content wise, one may just be churning out mediocre content and end up being a nobody outside the platform.

If a content creator isn't bothered with the lack of engagement, they are after something else. This I think applies to the blockchain ecosystem as likes and visibility is more of a priority for other social media, but here it's rewards.
