Freewrite | Radish Cake
Weekend Freewrite - 2/8/2020 - Single Prompt Option

I love radish cake! I have loved it for as long as I remember. When I was younger, we would enjoy this during the Chinese New Year or any celebrations like the Mooncake Festival. Honestly, I prefer this to tikoy or nian gao. It's also more expensive to buy. It has been a while since we have bought a whole cake of this. One reason is that it is now available all year round, even in Chinese fastfood restaurants, like the one featured on the cover photo. It's from Mr. Ube Rice & Noodle House. An order includes three small slices. I think it's perfect for snacks or side dish.

Radish is called labanos in our local language. I'm not too fond of this vegetable, but it has really good medicinal qualities. Sinigang is another local dish that is best enjoyed with radish. It's best cooked during rainy days. If you like experimenting in the kitchen, just watch the video on how to cook this dish. It is really yummy. ^_^
