avatar

Hey All; @StemGeeks Mathematician;

First off wishing you all a very happy weekend. I know it's a weekend and we all like to chill and relax; so I'm not going to bore you all by asking a difficult Maths Brain Teaser. Today is going to be our 37th Brainteaser and so far I've distributed close to 370 STEM as rewards; which is close to 46+ HIVE; great isn't iT? Also along with that, I've been staking all my STEM rewards and so far have staked close to 15K STEM tokens. I've set myself a GOAL to achieve close to 25K+ STEM tokens staked. let's see how it goes..

With that lets' have a look at the Brainteaser for today:: Complete the Triangle? From the last puzzle, we had just 2 entries that completed the Wheel of fortune Circle. But I'm hoping that for this Triangle puzzle we will have more entries and should be an easy one to solve.

I'm not providing any hint for this puzzle. As I believe that it's an easy ONE and you should be able to solve it easily. But just incase if you need a hint; all that I can say is that it involves a Jump of numbers combination to get to the answer. Good luck solving the puzzle.

Maths Brain Teasers 36:: Can You Complete the WHEEL of Fortune? - Solved with Explanation

image.png

In order to solve and provide a detailed explanation for Maths Brain Teasers 36:: question. I've highlighted the image with red lines.. Have a close look at the Red lines, that should give you a hint as to how this Wheel of fortune is solved.

  • Step 1 First Add together the numbers on the outside of each segment; i.e.

In the given image above; I've added

5 + 4 = 9

  • Step 2 Now put the result that is 9 at the center of the opposite segment.

In a similar fashion; I've shown the same for ;

2 + 1 = 3 is at the center of the opposite segment.

Now the segment in Question::

The opposite center segment already has 8; hence

1 + ? = 8

1 + 7 = 8

Therefore the Answer to the Maths Brain Teasers 36:: Can You Complete the WHEEL of Fortune??? is 7

STEM token GiveAway

I'll be again doing a giveaway of STEM tokens to the lucky random winner with the correct answer. For the last contest, which was Maths Brain Teasers 36:: Can You Complete the WHEEL of Fortune??.

We had 2 entries and both of them were correct..I was looking for an explanation as to how you arrived at the answer but no one provided the same.. Anyways the answer provided was correct; so I'm going to giveaway the reward. I'll be giving 5 STEM each to both the correct entries.

Congratulations @oldmans; & @bhattg. Both of You WIN yourself 5 STEM tokens. You should be having the rewards in your STEM Wallet Soon.

Thank you very much and congrats to @bhattg also! :)

I did get to the complete the circle answer a little differently though. I added up the three numbers for each of the pie sections and noticed the sections across from each other were the same value. I then figured the missing number needed to match the corresponding section across from it.

The answer is 20.

The explanation for it as follows:

Consider left upper triangle, by adding 1 at the base of right corner

2+1=3

will result into the value of another corner of the base line.

Similarly, by adding 2 to left corner value (3) and 3 to right corner value (2) result into 5

3+2=5

2+3=5

Follow the same trend for upper right traingle.
Base:: 8+1=9
Left side::8+3=11
Right side::9+2=11

In the same fashion in last triangle which is to be solved,
Right side:: 17+1= 18

We have to add 2 and 3 to both (17 and 18) so that a common value is obtained, that particular number is 20

18+2=20
17+3=20

Thus, 20 is the answer.

I went at it a in a little different manner than @manpreet16, but I, too, got an answer of 20.

The two smaller numbers of each triangle are 1 apart. The largest number of the triange is two more than the larger of the two smaller numbers.

  1. 2 + 1 = 3
    3 + 2 = 5

  2. 8 + 1 = 9
    9 + 2 = 11

  3. 17 + 1 = 18
    18 + 2 = 20 <--
