Yet another thanks goes to @OCD community for it's continued Community Incubation program and also the contests to highlight the other communities.
We have one of the most liked and almost all of us love this topic whether it's a kid or an elderly person, we all love this and it's the Movie and TV Shows and there is an Hive community on that and that is being the highlighted community of @OCD's contest for this week.
I am happy to bring you this blog to showcase you all to all time great Indian movie(known as Bollywood just like Hollywood :) ) and the movie is titled as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge movie got released in the year 1995 when I was still in high school and the movie was directed by the then rookie Indian director Aditya Chopra produced by his father Yash Chopra and the movie star included one of the best on-screen pair of Indian Cinema in Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol and the pair is in 7 hit movies the India has witnessed including this epic Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge(simply DDLJ).

Now, for @OCD's contest purpose, I would like to answer the 3 questions as mentioned below which are provided as part of the contest rules and are to be answered.

1: What is your favorite genre and why? Cite specific examples of movies that you liked the most in that particular genre:

This is something I mentioned even in previous contest from @OCD about Hive Book Club that, I am a big fan of mystery/detective/thriller genre movies because of my interest to understand the mystery and the solution to the same and it's thrilling, isn't it?
Some of the movies I liked from the genre I mentioned above includes Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase, Basic Instinct among the Hollywood movies and the Indian movies includes Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Khamosh, Kahaani, Rangitaranga, KGF as some of those with KGF being the latest one.

2: What is the best movie of your country and why?

Yes, I was writing about that only as part of this blog and let me continue now.
DDLJ as mentioned above is the best movie in terms of box office grossing, in terms of number of weeks the movie is running, in terms of the impression on the people.
Here are some of the stats I would like to share to showcase why this movie is all time best Indian movie:
  • The movie has been running in a theater in Mumbai since it's inception in 1995, i.e. approximately 26 years!!!!!
  • The movie was made with just INR 4 Crores budget, but the movie has grossed world wide over INR 102 Crore as of 2020 and it continues.
  • The movie has already entered into Guinness Book of Records as the longest running movie Worldwide with over 25 years of continuous run.
  • As per the record by a trade analyst, DDLJ box office value after inflation as of this year stands at INR 455 Crore in India and INR 69 Crore overseas which equals to INR 524 Crore in total!!!!
  • The movie won the then record of 10 Filmfare Awards and a National Award.
  • The success of DDLJ made the pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol to pair again in 4 more movies as best onscreen pair.
  • The 7 songs in the movie are all hit tracks and are being listened even now.
  • Oh, those were some of the records I could re-collect and we always cherish this movie whenever we re-watch it.

3: Who are your favorite villains in movies or TV series and why?

I have to refer you back to the movie I am writing in this blog, i.e. DDLJ for the answer to this question as it has one of the best actors in a villain role in Late. Amrish Puri, who was one of the finest actors to act in many Indian films including few cameos in foreign films such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, On Wings of Fire.
Amrish Puri acted in more than 450 films during his acting career between 1967 to 2005 and has won many Filmfare awards for Best actor in Supporting Role category.

Apart from Amrish Puri, the other actor who impressed me a lot in villain role is South Indian movie actor Vajramuni who mainly acted in Kannada language movies.

Coming back to the Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge movie, the movie became so famous because of it's pure love story of 2 non residing Indians staying in Europe and convincing the strict and orthodox girl's father to agree for their marriage is the main thing and the movie has 7 good music scores and the movie itself was shot in Europe and Switzerland including London and that was the beginning of hit love story based movies in India if I am not wrong.
Maratha Mandir is the theater name in Mumbai Central which is continuously showing this movie since it's release in October 1995 except for few days during the Corona CoVid 19 last year as the theaters were shut due to Pandemic.
I would like to urge the readers of this blog to watch this movie atleast once to see the importance of love and how it overcomes even the stiffest challenge posed by a strict father and converts him to agree for the marriage.

Thanks once again to the communities of @OCD and Movies & TV Shows for this wonderful opportunity to recollect the memories about the movies and tv shows we watched and I would like to appreciate the effort spent by whoever in bringing this contest to us.

    Thank You.

    Have a good Sunday :)

Indian cinema is a world in itself, and although I have seen that many people take it as a joke, the truth is that I have seen good performances in some films, not everything is a joke but I have seen actors with a lot of potential.

    100% agree with you.
While some states doesn't have much scope for movies, some of them are very actively producing movies even during this Corona pandemic and definitely the movies are of great influence for all of us.

Thanks for stopping by, have a good day bro.
