The Hive Engagement League

This league is not based around financial rewards and relates to engagement.

Everyone currently on my master list has a chance here, including those powering down or dealing in delegations over the past couple of weeks. Only the top 100 scores are shown.

The score is made up from a simple formula which uses the following types of engagement:

  • Posts (P)
  • Comments (C)
  • Number of people spoken to (PS)
  • Comments outside of own posts (CO)
  • Unique Author posts (UA)
  • Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (CR)
  • Comments - length in characters (CL)
  • Up-votes to others (V)
  • Up-votes to different authors (UV)
  • Self-votes - No minus score but no bonus HIVE (SV)

Hello @abh12345. Appreciate all the work you do to keep everyone's statistics in order each week. I just saw that you do the same for the Leo Finance group. That is awesome. Thanks so much for the HP for my 3rd place finish this week. I was engaged pretty heavily last week. Some weeks on and some off. That's the nature of time on and offline.

Congratulations to @jfang003 for once again finishing in 1st place. Your engagement is awesome. @jesustiano congrats on your 2nd place finish also. It's hard and steady motivation to engage with others on Hive to that level that the Top 20 members of EL do, so you, so you all are to be commended also.

Also congratulations to all the members of EL who finished in the Top 100. With the numerous members on Hive, that shows a level of commitment to reach out and engage with other authors, supporting them whenever you can and making new acquaintances. That's a commendable effort.

Thank you, a big hug and my support for you, it was a weird week last one, between my fiancée pregnancy and the job i almost dont hive at all, but i manage to free about 4-5 hours daily and in those times is where i comment, post, like and do all i can on the network, i get what you say about the nature of on time / off time. Im amazed by the data leofinance allways gather and how they organice it so well, i would die with that ammount of work honestly xD

I love that you asked me for my analysis, @brittandjosie , thank you! Here are my thoughts:

361 accounts earned a score this week (369 last week)

This may be related to number of people signed up to this project. Every human has 'a life' and sometimes 'life' gets in the way. But numbers can still go up if we keep getting more people involved in the project, to 'make up' for anyone who happens to be on hiatus this week. I call this the '100-for-1' rule, which you can see in the image below:

I hope this makes sense.

The top 100 produced 9005 comments (9908 last time)

A similar thing applies here. People can only physically write so many comments, so having more people signed up to this project increases the chances of having someone with 'plenty of free time' being around to comment and bump the numbers.

The top 100 produced over 1.93 million characters of text in comments (2.25 last time)

This is interesting, it could be related to my earlier point, but it may also relate to the quality of writing author's offer. A post that says "Do you believe in censorship & why?" will generally get longer written paragraphs than an article that says "Downvotes bad!" - I hope this makes sense.

The top 100 cast 28601 votes (26965 last time), of these, 198 were self-votes (141 last time)

I'd look into how comment-votes are being encouraged. Are they encouraged at all? If so, how? User interface? Incentives? Culture? Etc...

Of course, there are complex factors behind most data, and this is just a brief overview in a comment, lots more split-testing would likely be needed for stronger conclusions, but hopefully it gets the ball rolling. 🙏

Comments are encourage by 2 curations project so far, for spanish comments theres is @elcomentador and they event set a trail for comment upvotes and also collaborated with @eddiespino for making this video on how to join https://peakd.com/@eddiespino/xbmokdzj

The other just started about 5 days ago, rocket something and is just english, I havent memorized their username sofar but soon I will :)

@brittandjosie asked me for an analysis of the numbers, so I gave a rough guess at some of the factors behind their decrease, that's all :)

Hell ya ! That’s the analysis I was hoping for and with a grafic! The fact that hive is a life beside your real one is indeed ( for me ) the real one and the fact that so much is happening and still so many good numbers is AWSOME. It may say we have addicts here, it may say people
Love hive and it may say that people have more on hive than in real life. Who cares , every hive ride is different because we all are different and the fact that this is the outcome is nice.

Looks like a slight down turn in the over-all numbers, but really not to bad. I slightly bucked the trend and moved up a couple of spots compared to last week.

Reference the curation list, I think it is good to see, I at least like looking to see if I made it on the list. The HP per 1000 is pretty close really with only 1.153512 difference from first to last. What I find interesting is that the top nine are all 3 and 4 digit accounts.

I think 1.15 is quite a wide spread for the top 100, and I suspect it will narrow at some point. Perhaps the smaller accounts at the top aren't the best guide.

Ahh, thanks a lot. I was active here last year. Was in top 10 or 20 for a few weeks. But then got inactive because of personal issues. Now, I am back again.

Last year, I was trying to maximize my engagement to connect with new people. This time, I am just engaging with the content I like. Don't know if I would be in top again or not. Hope, I will find more people with whose content I can connect with.

Anyway, most post seems to have very little engagement except a few weekly contests. So, this thing is cool. Gives people incentive to engegage with the authors.

BTW, thanks for 1HP, my RC was low, powered it up😅

I might sadly not participate on the next week, and i think i will fail to reach my goal of top 1 due lack of resourses to comment :), but is ok, it was fun.

The why is tha the delagation of 1500 hp I had on my accont returned to the owner already <3, and is ok, i manage to do a lot with it while it lasted.
